Eco 10 and the good reasons for it against Eco 7
Mine is a review of Economy 10. After having Eco 7 for many years and always getting cold in the evenings I eventually decided to look for different heating methods. I knew about Eco 10 in the 1980's but never gave it much thought. To cut a long story short...The bill for my electric last year was £1400 for a one bedroom…

How to reduce your electric bills
For a few years now I've been looking into getting some solar PV panels to reduce my electric bill and do my bit for reducing CO2 levels. Like many the payback periods and initial outlay were a concern, so its never been anything more than something on my 'wish list'. You can now get solar PV panels for free from a company…

British gas wont send cheque for cockup!!!
Hi All, Back in December last year my Mom and Dad bought a Gas fire from British Gas. Unfortunately what they delivered and installed was not what they had ordered but a completely different fire. British Gas was quick to apologise and offer compensation for their mistake. My Mom and Dad agreed and was told a cheque would…

E.ON: Online tariff switching unavailable to existing customers...still
Presume the function worked prior to the 'planned maintenance' - why not roll back to the system state before maintenance and perhaps do more testing on the new version? Looking forward to hearing from you when online switching is again available....not 21-Apr

How do I what time storage heaters come ON?
Switching from SE "Daytime and Off Peak" plan to their cheaper Eco 7 plan. This involves switching from my two meters to a single meter (with two readings). Currently the storage heaters are set to come on at 1.30am and end at 7.30am. Whereas the new Eco period is 12.30 to 6.30am. As you can see I have a big problem. I…

Southern electric gas
Hi all. I am hoping one of you will be able to give me some advice about what to do with my gas company. When I first went with my company I decided to have a credit metre rather than a gas prepayment metre. My gas metre stopped working so I called the company to ask them to come fix it and also to inform them that I had a…

Incorrect meter point reference number and billing
Hello all. In 2007 we failed to move to a cheaper gas supplier because of an incorrect meter point reference (MPR). After several reminders on our behalf we were finally issued a new MPR in March 2010! We had however not received any bills since 2007, no matter how often we asked for this issue to be resolved. We recently…

Economy 7 don`t be fooled by cheap night rate
I`ve lived in the same house since 1982, when I moved in and removed the old electric storage heaters and installed gas central heating and hot water. To "benefit" from the cheap nightime units i`ve had timer plugs fitted to the washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer and every quarter looked zealously at the number…

Think I have made a booboo!?
I have just bought my first place - unfortunately there is a prepayment electricty meter in there at the moment, but a normal gas meter. Both are EDF Energy. I have taken the gas reading. I have just gone through a system online with NPower and the National Trust to switch my energy from EDF to them. I like the idea of it…
