Eco 10 and the good reasons for it against Eco 7

Options
Mine is a review of Economy 10.
After having Eco 7 for many years and always getting cold in the
evenings I eventually decided to look for different heating methods.
I knew about Eco 10 in the 1980's but never gave it much thought.
To cut a long story short...The bill for my electric last year was
£1400 for a one bedroom flat with all the mods...I decided to change
to Eco 10 to see if it would work out cheaper. We use all our
appliances in the off-peak rate now and have already saved over
£200 in the first 3 months of (winter period) use. So, in other
words it's very likey we will save about £500 this year on last year.
One other point is that the flat is now constant temperature around
the clock.
What I am saying is to anyone whom uses a lot of electric on the
Eco 7 tariff and constantly cold in the evenings change to the
Eco 10 tariff and save £000's

Eco 10 has various tariff times. Is quieter than Gas and is cheaper overall over a gas and electricity metering combined.

Not many providers offer Eco 10 these days. Well at least in London. I remember when I was a kid my parents had Eco10 in the 90's with SE. Not sure if they offer it now.

You say you think you''ll save about 35% be having changed to a tariff that drastically restricts your choice of supplier.

One wonders how much you would have saved by simply switching to a more competitive supplier/E7 tariff because £1400 per year for a one bed flat does not sound like the cheapest option, and you could have possibly got that down to £900 (or less) by simply shopping around.

Otherwise I'd love to see the actual consumption figures and unit costs that makes you think that you could save 35% over the cheapest E7 tariff.

Premier above has put it more diplomatically, but I don't think you are correct in a lot of your assertions.

It really is pointless saying 'I have saved £x - and will save £y) without providing data to support your contention.

    Presumably you have storage heating?

    Which company and area?

How many units(kWh) do you use at the various rates?
