If you have one of the British gas energy monitors supplied as part of the Energy Smart scheme, be aware that British Gas are sending out replacement power units. energy saving bulbs = higher power consumption?
Hi all, I moved into a new house recently and in doing so, I replaced all the bulbs with energy saving ones - but I noticed something rather odd. I've also switched energy supplier and received a wireless energy monitor, which I'm using. I replaced a 60w incandescent bulb with a philips 14w stick (eqv. to 75w). The problem…

British Gas Web Saver 6 has to be with fixed d/debit
After much deliberation and calculation I've decided to switch my dual fuel from EDF to B. Gas. The only thing that concerns me is that the Web Saver 6 tariff has to be set up with a FIXED direct debit. If this was by consultation and agreement I would'nt mind as I find the constant seesawing of variable direct debits…

First Utility / Underfloor heating costs
I moved into a 500sq/metre flat with electric underfloor heating at the start of December. The electricity is provided by First Utility using a smart reader. I was shocked to receive an electricity bill of £192 for the December - end January period. This seems excessively high to me given that I rarely use the underfloor…
