Gas meter

I have a pre-payment gas meter. It had no credit last night and I never put the emergency on. However getting up this morning it said I owed £ 0.27. How can I owe this if I never used any gas?

As you meter charges you the tier 2 price throughout the day it plays catch up in the early hours to charge the tier 1 rate.

Sorry does not make sense to me. Does this happen with credit meters? So does the meter charge me £0.27 every single day?

With a credit meter the fist so many units are charged at tier 1 then the remainder at tier 2. You are now being charged exactly the same as the credit meter.

Possibly the standing charge. The only time it doesn't take that is when you actually activate emergency credit (it records arrears and takes it later).

With 7.4 tier 1 units per day and many a typical tier 1 hike of 5p or more I would say you are in fact being charged 10p less than many credit meter standard tariffs. (7.4 x 5p = 37p)

I'm on Click pay as you go. Even though after months the tariffs are still not what they should be.
  • Do yourself a favour get on a single rate tariff while on pp,much simpler:)
