When should I change my boiler?
I have a Glow worm Fuelsaver F. Anyone know roughly how old these are? I searched on line and see reference to 1986. So if it is about 20 ish years old, when is the right time to change? It's working ok, but I'm guessing it will need to be changed soon? Also, what are the rough costs for a new boiler? (probably a very open…

British Gas rip off again!
I expect others will know this, but its not fair. The last quarterly bill was deemed to be 85 days, and during that time the gas price went down. having an actual reading at the start and an actual reading at the end clearly showed I used 367 imperial units, and here is where British Gas do the con, they alter the unit…

Southern Electric estimates - cannot afford to pay bill
Hi there, I was a debt-free wannabe a few years back and thanks to this site sorted out everything:beer: Anyway, we've just moved and phoned Southern Electric with our meter reading and yesterday got a bill through for our last quarter (no worries there) but with £150 added on top. DF phoned up to ask what on earth this…

Boiler offer from British Gas
I got a letter yesterday with an offer, see https://www.britishgas.co.uk/boileroffer. It doesn't give out prices, just money that can be saved with the offer (£200 off + £100 loyalty + £204 for 1 year's free homecare (so that's not money off the boiler)). I don't believe our boiler is in need of being replaced but it's…

Sorry if this is a really silly question. I'm currently buying a property and am looking for the cheapest supplier, however do I have to stick with whoever is currently supplying theses services to the property at the moment, take up an account with them and then switch afterwards, or can I just contact whoever I like and…

EON £160 Invoice for fitting a brown plastic control knob
My husband was approached by Eon to become a customer for a monthly central heating cover plan in case the boiler broke down, which he duly switched to. A man came out from Eon to assess whether we could be considered for the scheme. We were told that we could become customers if a new control knob was fitted. WE WERE NOT…

Utility companies not passing on correct meter readings when switching
I recently switched utility companies from Scottish Power to Npower. Npower didn't send anyone round to read the electricity meter or ask me to provide a reading, but they let Scottish Power shut the account on an estimate. The estimate was way too high. I rang Scottish Power, who said they could only take the closing…

I received an email from SP. It did cross my mind whether to switch but I guess with the penalty I will not bother esp as their email tells me I am better of. Judt wonder what others are doing. You're still better off with your fixed price offer You've probably noticed that energy prices have been up and down a lot…

Scottish Gas
Hi everyone, just thought I should warn you about switching providers. Last July (08) , just before prices started to rise significantly I took advice through this site to switch from my current provider to Scottish gas under a deal that would have been 5% dearer than my then provider, but significantly less than at…

E-on misread meter
I only have electricity in my property, but for the past 2 years since being with E-on they have apparently incorrectly read my meter - on a gas tarrif; the consequence of which means that they have undercharged me more than half of what they should have. They have now sent me a bill of £1,607.51 to pay, with no apology or…

NPower - Is now a good time to switch?
I've just moved into a new house currently supplied by EDF (dual fuel). According to price-comparison websites, the best provider for me is N-Power. However, I notice that N-Power still haven't dropped their prices in the latest round of drops. Can anyone tell me whether I will qualify for any future drop in prices if I…
