Hi
Eon put my DD up to £175 per month in December and refused to put it down. Having check my annual usage Last week I emailed them asking them to put it down again they refused. I'm £384 in credit with £175 due before the next bill.Which means I will be £559 . My annual usage for last year was £1300 approx with this new dd amount I will be paying £2100. Any advise please.

Sounds too high. Have you costed your annual use at current prices? How many kwh did you use last year?0

many thanks for your quick reply.
gas last year was 21161 units The last bill shows 661units primary @ 6.381p the rest at 3.47p. Which I make approx £660 at the new prices.
Elec. last year was 6224 units the last bill shows 222 primary @ 24.54p the rest at 10.45p. Which I make approx £775.52
£660 + £775.52 = £1435.52 divided by 12 = £119.63 This I told them on the phone and in the email, but they will not lower my payments.0 -
I work your gas out higher, but it still seems too high a DD. Have you asked them how them why? I'd try ringing - hit and miss if you get someone who listens, but I've never had to ask more than twice!0

Hello jak1962,
If your supplier doesn't reduce your payments to an amount you're happy with, cancel the payments and pay quarterly.
I'm with Eon, and I have managed to reduce my payments twice since last September.
I've just made it clear I understand my consumption, and that even with the price increases, I am using considerably less than this time last year.
If they are still reluctant to play ball, say you'll cancel and pay by other means.

Be careful with muchie's advice please! If you are on a tariff that gives you discounts for paying by direct debit, you may lose these discounts.
If you don't get any joy phoning them, have you contacting the Eon reps on this site? I think Helena is one of them? They should be able to get it sorted for you.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -

My DD discount is a whopping £15 per quarter.
If I felt I was overpaying my monthly direct debit amount, I'd happily wave goodbye to the discount, in favour of putting money away into a separate bank account, ready for when the bill is due.

Hi jak1962
It does sound a bit high from the info you have provided on the thread.
The Direct Debit is calculated to give you a zero balance at your spring review, this then means that you will build up credit over the summer months to cover larger winter bills.
It sounds like the Direct Debit was increased to ensure the winter bill is covered. ie, E.ON expects the usage between the date of the increase and the spring review to be around £600.00.
In the spring the payments will be re-calculated again for you.
Hope this helps....

That sounds about right.
Generally E.on only provide a 6% discount for those who pay their energy bill monthly by Direct Debit.
But remember you can get 3% discount from E.on for paying quarterly on receipt of bill, either by agreeing to pay that by DD or even just paying the billed amount promptly.
(Certain tariffs may not have an equivilent that allows for payment quarterly on receipt of bill - but it's always worth checking)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
