Simply Switch problems - £35 Amazon Voucher

Hi,

Has anyone experienced problem claiming their £35 Amazon Voucher from Simply Switch, and if so, how did you resolve this?

I used the correct link, switched both electricity and gas, and waited over 3 months. Still no voucher...

I've not been able to get anywhere emailing their customer service department.

I feel misled - help!

    Try calling them on 0800 011 1366

They'll have more difficulty in ignoring you once you make telephone contact with them.

Yes, I also applied over 4 months ago, and have had nothing !!!! Did you call them ?
    Kir ;o) ;)
  • My vouchers were due at the beginning of February. I've exchanged several emails with them (they only seem to reply when you get a bit grumpy) and they keep promising that they are coming soon.

The last email, more than two weeks ago, said that the vouchers would be 'this week'. I've replied, but no response as yet.

Can't MSE put any pressure on them?

    Welcome to MSE, persianharry :hello:

Unfortunately you are not the first person to post saying they are still awaiting their amaozn vouchers.

But I think you may be the first to have a "the cheque's (almost) in the post" response, clearly indicating that you are entitled to the vouchers.

According to their own terms, you should receive the voucher 90 days after application or 2 months after the switch depending on which term you read. In reality they probably amount to about the same thing as it takes about 4 weeks to switch.

If I were in your position, I think I'd be tempted to give them a last chance by issuing them a letter before legal action and then if they still fail to arrive, start a summons.

There really is no excuse for their delay. If they have purchased the amazon vouchers, they could send you it immediately by email (it's only a unique code). My guess is they don't currently have them.

  • Yes, they certainly confirmed that I was entitled to the vouchers in one of their emails.

Thanks for the advice (and the warm welcome), I'll write them a letter tonight!

Have to say that I got my voucher through when it was due (end of January) - mine was only £15 for a single fuel, but no problem.

Just wanted to let you all know that I received my voucheer 2 days ago. I did not get around to call them or write, so hopefully you will all be getting yours soon ;o)

I applied on the 24th of November, and exactly 4 months (24th of March) later I got the voucher ;o)

I applied for npower dual fuel via Simply Switch on 28 May 2009 and I haven't received my £35 Amazon voucher. I think I may start hassling them because if they advertise free vouchers as a means to get more customers switching their energy suppliers through their site then I think those customers should be entitled to receive these vouchers.
  • Hi All,

I am currently in a debate with Simply Switch myself regarding the £35 Amazon Vouchers.

Apparently you have to apply for your vouchers after your supply has gone live, AND 60 days after your application date. However, my supply didnt go live until after 63 days of my application date, therefore there was never an opportunity for me to claim my vouchers in accrodance with the terms and conditions.

I'll let you know what the outcome is.

    Regards,

    Neil
  • Hi Neil

It looks as if I've fallen for Simply Switch's con as well .... I switched supplier for Gas & Electric and on that day that I switched online I received an email from Simply Switch that clearly tells you that there is no need to apply for the vouchers for many weeks as the below copy and paste from the email says...

"So what do you need to do now? While your transfer is taking place you don’t need to do anything we’ll do this part for you. Once your supply has taken place use the link below and fill in your details to claim your voucher. Don’t worry we already have your details this is just to confirm that the switch has taken place."

I have had no contact other than this email ( no reminder to apply ) ( no mention of the 60 days anywhere in the email - which is the critical part and what I call the con ).

The form to fill in appears on a link in the email - as you need your account number for the form ( account number with the new supplier ) you are completely disabled from filling in the form and the clock is ticking on the 60 days unbeknown to me at the time.

Where are the terms and conditions with regards the vouchers ?

The only email I received from them has no link to terms & conditions whatsoever - clicking on a link on the email takes you to simply's website and the form to claim the vouchers where at the bottom the terms & conditions appear - these mention nothing about 60 days etc

What can I do about this as I feel absolutely cheated !!

I rang simply switch's customer service and have ben told that they will look into it but how many more people will get conned by this rediculous policy of sending you a one and only email on the day you switch - giving a clear instruction to wait until the new energy supplier is in place along with the lack of an account number which only arrives with the first bill sent out from the new supplier rendering most people unable to claim inside the 60 day period anyway?

    Dave
