Simply Switch problems - £35 Amazon Voucher

I sent out a stroppy email to Customer Services at Simply Switch yesterday, having heard nothing from them for several months. I got a response back within three hours advising me that the delay was due to a problem with ordering the vouchers from Amazon. They went on to say that I had applied for the voucher on the 31/3/2010 and that their terms and conditions stated that there could be delays in sending out the vouchers. However the email went on to say that due to this delay they would obtain a voucher code and would send it to me by email. Three minutes later an email arrived with an Amazon voucher code for £35 included! Quite amazing.Sounds like of load of b.s. to me.
Every Amazon 'voucher' I've ever known is simply a code.
What would be the purpose of a voucher in the traditional paper sense for an online only retailer???
Well thats sounds excatly like my experience from yesterday!
In my dealings with them they have been helpful and responded quickly. I know people have had problems but I can only form my opinion from my dealings.
If anyone is waiting I would get in touch while they are handing out voucher codes0 -
I also switched through Simply Switch (SS), and it has been a right pain.
My transfer date was 27 March, and the offer i had was £35 amazon voucher and £50 Cashback.
I eventually received the amazon voucher on 14 May, after chasing it up and being given the 'ordering delay' excuse ie Amazon's fault
The £50 cashback was supposed to be credited
Approximately four weeks after the switch has gone ahead
but guess what......there's a delay and yes....it's Scottish Power's fault.
The 6th piece of correspondence between me and SS, apologises but says
should be with you within the next 14 working days
and
can take up to 7 days to clear into your account
So that's 14 WORKING days ie 3 weeks, plus another week clearing ie another month, making the total wait 12 weeks rather than the promised 4
EDIT : I did eventually receive the cashback, but only because i pushed them all the way.
But i defintely wont use them again.0 -
Hi
i to am having trouble with simply switch ref there amazon/john lewis vouchers
when i switched i recieved a confirmation email, which was fine
because the landing page stated that once the switch had been made i could claim the vouchers, i waited untill everything was confirmed by scottish power and then contacted simply switch as i had heard nothing
i was met with the reply that because i hadnt responded to the second email within 60 days i could not claim the vouchers !!!!!!!!
when i protested that i had not recieved the second email they refered me to the terms and conditions which state that if you dont recieve the second email that you need to contact them
what second email ? how can you tell them you didnt get an email if you didnt know you were going to get it in the first place ??
it seems like a system that tries really hard not to give you what you were promised
i have suggested to them that a simple tick box to confirm terms and conditions have been read or a follow up email to when they had not recieved the claim email back
now when you go to the landing it says "by clicking continue you are confirming you have read the term and conditions ", it didnt say that before it has only just been added , an admission of guilt if ever ther was one
has anyone else not recived the mysterious second email and missed the ridiculous 60day limit
can anyone help ?????

It's always been so easy to switch in the past, just went to the comparison site, filled in a few details, electricity and gas keeps flowing, money goes to someone else and I get some cashback automatically.
Saw the John Lewis vouchers and applied. However, as I didn't follow the right link, no cashback / voucher offer forthcoming.
Emails came up with some guff about the 60 days and apply for vouchers, etc. and of course I didn't make it.
In short, this appears to be the very type of tiny organisation making you jump through cashback hoops that I try to avoid (e.g. apply for a form after x, send it back after y).
Oh well, I guess it is time to look again at the other simpler comparison websites with their lower but easier promises (if only to get a slightly better deal and with the belief that Ovo may just take back some of their commission they gave SimplySwitch...).
ETA: Just reread my Ovo terms and conditions and they would charge me £60 to leave within the first twelve months, seems I'll have to chalk this one down to experience and avoid both Ovo (who are now more expensive than Scottish Power) and Simply Switch in future.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
This seems to be one heck of a scam by SimplySwitch. You sign up in good faith using the simplyswitch web site, they get paid by the supplier for the switch and then wriggle out of paying you your cut. How can MSE continue to promote SimplySwitch as a comparison site that pay vouchers when they make it so difficult for you to obtain said vouchers.
Something needs to be done.
..... and considering that SimplySwitch is a trading name of MoneyExpert Limited can somebody confirm that MSE have nothing to do with MoneyExpert.com.
Thanks.

Hi Rick,
I have been waiting, after struggling to claim, for 3 months for my vouchers. So I phoned up Simply Switch and was given the same answer as you "waiting on amazon to send the vouchers!" Ive been told to expect them in the next few weeks, but I hope they react as in your case in a few hours!! Useless...

I can confirm that Money Saving Expert and moneysavingexpert.com, both registered trademarks belonging to Martin, are not connected with Money Expert Limited or moneyexpert.com
Whats more, I can't see anything being a scam if the terms & conditions are clearly advised up front, and payouts are being made to those customers who comply with those stated terms & conditions."Now to trolling as a concept. .... And I want to help try and build a more responsible society here in Britain. One where we don't just ask what are my entitlements, but what are my responsibilities
Are SimplySwitch entitled to keep all the money that they receive from the utility company that you have switched to or do they have a responsibility to pay you your part?
Jumping through hoops shouldn't be a requirement. It's not the norm with other price comparison companies.0 -

...
Yes they can keep any commission they earn.
Their only requirement is to pay you whatever they said if, and only if, you conform to their terms & conditions. What they receive from the supplier is irrelevant.
If you don't like their terms & conditions, don't use them."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
