Is it worth buying a £500 A-rated dryer?

Eon smart meter
We've had a letter from Eon saying they want to install a smart meter in my house. I'm not bothered whether the meter is clever or not - lol - but I've just read THIS thread and want to make sure that they're not going to put in a meter that's only compatible to their system. e.on said the discount is applied from when the DD is setup and online discount once the online account setup. Even though all payments went through DD makes no difference? Is this fair? If so make sure you lot sign up quickly

Combi-condenser boiler..water temperature?
