NPower switched me over without telling me
I have been with Atlantic Electric and Gas for over 2 years and had a very good service. Imagine my surprise when I get a letter from Atlantic saying they were sorry I'm leaving. I phoned them up, and they said they had been contacted by a supplier saying I'd signed on with them. I told them this is rubbish as I havent…

Hi, I live in a small 2-bedroomed detached bungalow (ex-local authority). I have 3 storage heaters (one large and two medium-sized) plus an electric boiler (there is no gas supply where I live). I have had an ongoing issue with powergen which has culminated in them telling me that i need to pay them £113/month for the next…

Should we sign up for paperless billing from Brit Gas
Brit Gas rep came round last week trying to get us to sign up to their elec (we already get their gas) and we said we'd be interested. Apparently, if you go paperless you stay on their old tariffis (ie miss the recent price hike) but I don't know for how long. They claim to be the cheapest elec supplier - are they right?…

Cancel Your Direct Debit Day
I have an idea - consumers hold the power right? A national 'Cancel Your Direct Debit Day'. This will give the power companies something to think about. I propose we all cancel our Gas/Electric DDs say on the 1st March 2008. The utility companies will not be able to cope with the cancellations and panic will set in. This…

Is switching to EBIco worth it?
I found out about this company from a friend and have checked through their website to find out if it's worth changing. The problem is I'm hopeless at understanding it. My mum has electricity and gas through card meters and she's paying on average £20 a week for both. She's with Scottish Gas after just changing from…

Money grabbing Scare Tactics
At the beginning of Dec, I had my gas bill in, telling me I was £40 in credit to British Gas. Great I thought, no extra to find, until I got to the other side and it said "consequently we're putting your monthly direct debit up to £84 per month". I rang the helpline to find out why, if I was in credit, they were putting my…

Flogas failed to do the safety inspections I paid for
I guess most domestic Flogas customers don’t know that the standing charge on their Flogas bulk underground LPG tank includes hire and the cost of statutory annual safety testing of the tank. You probably have no idea if it has been done, or when. The tank also has to be emptied and more detailed tests carried out every…
