E-ON !! £350 per quarter... am i missing something?
 Hello, peeps this is my first of many posts here, I was just wondering if anybody else pays £350 per quarter for electricity in a brand spanking new 2 bedroom flat, Well i say brand new we moved in 12 months ago when it was brand new, Me and my wife moved in 12 months ago and we get an estimated reading bill after being here 3 months for about £90 which we thought was ok, (this is our first time paying bills like this so we dont really know what is normal) so we called up and paid the £95 and we gave the woman the latest reading off the meter as no-one has ever been to read it, and all of a sudden £95 turned into £350!!! as you can imagine we was a bit pi--ed off with this every 3 months the same, even in the summer ? when we never had the heating on, we are meticulous about turning things off when not in use everything apart from the fridge which is A+ grade, which is meant to be economic, i mean not just turned off to a standby but off at the wall with the plug out and the switch to "off" at first it was a bit of a pain but you get used to it, and we thought of all the pennies we were saving by doing this, we dont have anythingg that guzzles the electricity, just normal stuff like everyone else. So we was just wondering if anybody else has this problem with extortionate bills, whether the meter is faulty? or if some dodgey people are tapping into our supply, E-on say it sounds high, but thats about it, they wont send anybody from the consumption team to come and check out the readings and the flat. Does anybody have any advice???

Wow that does sound alot. I thought mine was huge at £257 for the quarter but I am in a 3 bed house with elec cooker, washer ,dishwasher, dryer 2 freezers etc and a son who thinks our house is Blackpool illuminations !
I would get back on to them as I am with them too and tho' have had no problems as yet they seemed reasonable when I have phoned them.0

How much have you paid in total for the 12 months that you have lived there ?0

Is your immersion heater on 24/7.
I have spoken with loads of people who never realised and it was costing them a fortune.
I take it your property is gas heated?0

It sounds like you have had three estimated bills, then a real reading has been used. so 3x £90 + £350 = £620 for a year is respectable.0

All estimated.. Take a reading and you may find you owe nothing to them.
Why not try switching off all appliances and if ya meter reader is still moving question why?Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Have you checked the tariff you are on? Do you have storage heaters. Due to an error by E.On, my electricity usage from two meters was added up and charged on the normal tariff of the first 185kWh @ 16.18 each and the 1984kwh charged @ 9.01 each. I run two storage heaters and one oil filled and use 36 units per night on a economy 7 type meter. My original bill was 208.69 from September to November. From September to Feb I used 3770 nights and 1528 day.
I am now on the RHT plan, so that my heating "storage units" are charged at 7.13 pence each. My day units have remained the same price.
I have since had an amended bill from September to February for £271.51 for 5 months electricity. I will have to raise the dd to £66. Had this error continued, E.on wanted £206 per month to cover this. In the summer the storage heaters will not be used and I hope to see a difference. I have had to pay the bill from savings which I am not happy about. The immersion water heater is on 24/7 and I am going to turn it off at the mains to see if this will cut my day units. I will get back to you to see if the immersion was the problem.

            Hi,
Do you mean you when you gave the reading to replace that first bill, it jumped due to that reading?
If so and since this is a new build, it's highly likely the opening reading is incorrect. If the opening reading is too low, a jump would be caused when you issue you current reading.
Do the meters have a tag on with the installed reading? If so, your first bill should reflect that opening reading. If not, and the opening reading on your bill is lower than that on the meter tag, the Supplier has got an incorrect installed reading for the meter.
They can then send out the Meter Operator who will see the tag and then inform them to change it for you.
It could also be that your meters are crossed with the other flats.
It's a bit difficult to say without more information.
I wouldn't worry about faulty meters yet (they are rare) and it's not worth considering anyone tampering with your meter or supply until you can check if it's just a simple opening reading issue.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
