should we convert to gas central heating?
Hi, we just bought a 2-bedroom maisonette in London and we have the possibility to convert from an all-electric system to gas central heating. Is it worth it? That is, knowing the cost of the installation, how can we find out in how many years we are going to repay the investement? Thanks! ediecosta

Can someone talk me through it.....
I am not moving from this seat until I have switched!!! From checking Uswitch it seems that Scottish Power is cheapest for Electricity, and Npower cheapest for Gas. I pay both by DD at the moment, and I am in credit on one and debit on the other. Is it ok to switch with debit and credit on my account (both with BG)? What…

EDF Gas & Electricity NECTAR points query
We switched to EDF (used to be London Energy) earlier this year and notice from our bills that we're racking up something called "Nectar Points" each quarter; apparently, it's a loyalty bonus of 150 points per quarter. According to our latest bills, we now have 400 points per account, 800 in total, accumulated. According…

British Gas have left parents without central heating
My father (82) decided that he should get his gas fire and central heating checked for himself and my Mother (79). Brirish Gas came out and checked the fire and central heating and found that the flue on the outside of the house had come adrift from the ridge tile sand gave them a quote of £600 to fix it. My father thought…

iIwonder if you could help shed some light on a prolem my mum is having with British Gas. She decided to cancel both her gas and electric with British gas only after a month as she was informed she could get cheaper gas from a different supplier. Everything seemed to be going ok until this morning when she recieved a final…

Am I due compensation?
This is a bit long winded but please bear with me. Last Thursday when i got home from work i noticed that my electric meter had been changed for a new one and that £11 of my credit had disappeared leaving me with £9. i called Powergen who said that it was because they could only load £10 on a new meter and that they would…

Inaccurate Electricity meters?
I have been increasing concerned about the cost of electricity in my home. So much so that we are now in the process of changing electricity suppliers from NPower to Scottish power after using the switching process on this site. However as I was researching my electricity costs with Npower, and upon examination of my bills…

Scottish Power price plan confusion
I am currently with Scottish Power on plan WWW Capped DD DF which comes to an end soon I think (not sure when). Whoa! BG is my cheapest listed supplier!
Never thought I'd see this but...British Gas was the cheapest listed supplier for my supply - dual fuel. I know they have a crap reputation, but we stand to save (as listed by the switch site) about £90 a year. The other nearest was £50. So we're going to give them a try. Probably won't last long but hey...you've gotta try!

British Gas retro active bill..... opinions on legality?
We switched our electricity to BG last year, from scottish power. We had a Quantum prepay meter fitted and the switch went without a hitch. While with Scottish power we would after a meter reading recieve a bill saying we had payed X amount more than we had to over a 12 month period and could claim it back. which was a…

Economy 7 -v- standard tarrif - is it worth getting my meter changed?
Hi. I am currently with Powergen and I've been comparing energy tariffs and I've found out that I would be better off with Ebico. My question is at the moment I have Economy 7 electricity and I've worked out (if I've done my sums right!) that I would be slightly better off on the standard tariff. Obviously I have an…

Result with BG - I hope!
In desperation with all the threatening letters I have been getting from BG, this afternoon I picked up the phone and called the number on the top of the last one. Only rang THREE times and a very nice lady answered - I was so shocked I nearly dropped the phone, I was expecting the usual 20 min + wait. Anyway I explained…

Differences in Quotes
I have tried uSwitch, Energyhelpline and SimplySwitch and noticed a big differnce in quotes, although exactly the same info was given to all three. For instance Energyhelpline quote a saving of £48pa from British Gas Green Click Energy and SimplySwitch quote a savings of £129pa. Who should I believe?

Hi I hope that this has been posted in the right place. I really need some advice a couple of years ago we moved into privately rented accommodation. We had been moved in several months and had been paying Southern Electricity for both our gas and elec. I came home one day to find a note on our mat from Powergen saying…
