control rate?????
hi i know i should ask scottish power this but mse is much easier to get through to and much friendlier.
im on sp prem plus package , i have night day and a standing charge which i understand but what is the contral rate ? it costs a little less than night rate and seems to use similar amount of units .
i do plan on changing soonish just curious as im having difficulty with my storage heaters, are they turned on by the meter, newly fitted by sp, they say no. it should be a timer connected at some point on the circuit after it comes out the meter?
so i was just wondering if the control rate is connected to the storage heaters in any way, so much conflicting info from folk some sat timers some say its the meter.
any help greatly appreciated.

anyone know what the control rate is for??0

Sounds something similar to Economy 10 where your storage heaters get a boost in the afternoon/early evening.
Nothing obvious in Google without hassle.
Surely there is an explanation on the bill.0 -
sadly no its just listed the same as night/day rates with units used and price,
im definitely moving from sp but i'd like to know what it is incase ive been paying too much.0 -
It seems Scottish power doesn't publicy list their tariffs.
Ring 0800 074 0745 for Energyhelpline free customer advice.
They may guide you thru the process of switching, you will need postcode and per year electric and gas figures. Ask them about the 'control rate'.
If you are a low user, Ebico have good rates tho they don't pay commission to Energyhelpline, so may not be suggested, although they are mentioned on the website.0 -
just spoke to sp and the say that control rate is for the usage of the heaters, whether you use in am/pm it will draw lecy but be charged at the control tariff, a little less than night rates. does that sound correct?0

New to me Dan., sounds good tho, as long as it's not a standing charge for using cheap ov ernight electric.
Sounds like you are paying twice.0 -
well i have a standing charge on my bill also, so its 4 rates/usage:
day, night, control and then the standing charge as well, do you recon thats odd.0 -
You need to put your details into a comparison site, postcode and per annum usage.
It will list Scottish Power tariffs.
Perhaps it's a dead tariff, no longer for new customers.0 -
Could it be this, Dan.
