They were cheaper than what we were paying now so we switched although my girlfriend said she`d had trouble with them before but I didn`t…

Timer switches for Econ 7.
I'm going to run my washing machine on a timer. The switch at the back is hard to get to, but, luckily for me, there's a switch on the wall above the work surface to control the lower socket. The best option I've found so far is: http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=12544&ts=01051# Ideally I'd prefer something a…

The Southern Electric man called
This morning to read meters- in a company van. so I'd assume not an agent. Card was left to givr meter readings, whivh he would collect later in day, if left in a convenient spot. Recall was made this sfternoon. My thoughts are that Southern has realised the inefficiancy of using agents and now prefers to do the work…

I've just scared off a Southern Electric man
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Knock at the door, answered it and there was a man from SE with the usual "we're cheaper blah blah blah". So I started going on about uswitch and MSE and how I check prices carefully before I change. "Ah but..........." "Ooooh you know who I mean, his name's Martin Lewis, you might have seen him on…

Blessed gas
OK folks, a bit of a strange one but I'd appreciate any DFW insider info and suggestions. After getting Martin's weekly tip saying to switch utility supplier, I went to the energyhelpline.com site and went through the process of entering all my particulars. At the end of the process it tells me that my biggest saving can…

Boiler servicing / insurance - is this good value?
Hi Grateful for any advice anyone can offer on the topic of insuring a gas boiler. I've never needed to do this before so I don't know what constitutes good value? I've received an offer from Homeserve for an annual boiler service (only, ie no call-out facililty) for £7.99 per month (ie. about £95 pa), which seems a lot,…

Standing Charges.
I am going to switch from Scottish Power to someone(anyone). Although various companies in the uswitch.com site tell me they can save X amount of money per year, no-one mentions their standing charges. There's no point in me switching, because someone is going to save £200 per year, if I then find out that the new…

Changing from Economy 7?
Just had an elec bill with a message saying that my direct debit will go up from £24 per month to £54!! I supplied all the readings so I know that it's not just a wrong estimate... I live on my own in a 1 bed flat so £54 is quite a lot!! I'm on economy7 and I don't think it is benefitting me at all as I use all my…

Some houses I've been to before leave this switch on all the…
