Boiler servicing / insurance - is this good value?
Options
Hi
Grateful for any advice anyone can offer on the topic of insuring a gas boiler. I've never needed to do this before so I don't know what constitutes good value?
I've received an offer from Homeserve for an annual boiler service (only, ie no call-out facililty) for £7.99 per month (ie. about £95 pa), which seems a lot, but I don't know if it's actually a good offer or if there's anything better on the market?
Thanks for any thoughts

The 'service' reqd on most gas boilers these days is minimal - the safety check is important though - so to my mind £95 is expensive.
You say "insuring a gas boiler" well if it doesn't cover call outs - what happens if something goes wrong with the boiler?
There have been many threads on the more expensive BG Home Care scheme, with strong opinions on its advantages and disadvantages and value for money, which you should read. At least that covers the whole system with call outs included.
Best solution is to get a good reliable honest plumber - a rare beast to find for most of us.0 -
I agree completely with Cardew. My central heating guy services the boiler and gas fire and costs £40 per annual visit.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
