Have just done a comparison search on Energyhelpline for my Mother in Law who uses pre-payment meters with PowerGen Age Concern & the recommendation is to change to EquiGas & EquiPower by EBICo Ltd. Energyhelpline say they have no customer service information about this supplier so I'm a little unsure wether to take the…

Help! Changing from prepayment to billed elec
I'm renting at the moment and we use a prepayment for the electric. I would like to change it to a monthly billing system, but I was wondering if we need any cosmetic changes to the house to do this? Or is it just a quick thing that requires no building work?

Lock down your Gas and Electricity prices now!
I have it on good authority from a senior manager at British Gas that 2006 is not going to be a good year for Gas and Electricity prices - (most electricity in the UK is generated from gas). The advice that I have been given is to lock your Gas and Electricity prices now It is possible to get out of lock-in's so don't be…

Npower Complaints - where to ?
I was told that there is some sort of overseeing body that scares the hell out of suppliers. Does anyone know what it is ? I have been messed around like you wouldn't believe by Npower & I very much want to put a complaint in to the relevant place. The final straw was when they changed me from fixed direct debit to varied…

Some of this thread was posted by me before, so if you have read some of it, forgive me for posting it again, but it was necesary to get the whole picture I had a leaflet from Southern Electric saying that they were putting their prices up as from 1st January 2006, no great suprise there, in the leaflet they say - Quote…

Electricity costs??
We've lived in a 2-bed council house for 2.5 years. Since moving in the electric bill has gone from £35pm to £50pm, and today they want to increase it to £90pm! I think this is ridiculous, but am I out of touch with reality? We have electric heaters, these are only on at night, and apparently we make a payment on top of…

£2000 saved: A Huge thank you from me
I passed on the tip from last week about the British Gas winter fuel rebates to the members of an Autistic Forum I use. At a rough guess between us we have recieved somewhere in the region of £2000 as a result of this rebate. The information from this website made that possible! We all had letters drop through our…

Thank goodness I found this site and bought Martin's book! I didn't realise that I was PAYING to be on E7! I phoned my supplier, Atlantic, to find out exactly what hours are covered by E7 and discovered that by changing to normal tarriff I will save £30 - £35 a year. We will need a new meter but that is at no charge to us.…

Switching suppliers. Are there other ways than switchsites
I find these sites unhelpful. At least for electricity. At the moment I'm with Powergen and I'm paying the following: -10.48 P/KWH daytime -8.6 P/KWH day secondary units. Can somebody explain me what this is? Weekend tariff perhaps? -3.35 P/KWH night When I use a switch site, they ask me for my usage. My partner and I both…

£300 for 2 months electricity??
I have been in my one-bed little house for a couple on months now and already have paid out about £250/£300 on a e-energy (or whatever it is) prepaid meter. I don't have gas so everything is on electricity, and I do understand it is winter, but the heating is only on when I am at home (eg. 4 hours in the night) so I am…

PowerGen again
Now have a letter from them with a refund cheque. Cheque is for £30 less than I worked out. No bill, no info online, no nothing... Phoned them up. They estimated the final readings (despite my telling them the actual ones) and they were well high. After giving the correct readings I tried asking why I had not had a bill. I…
