Electricity costs??

Options
We've lived in a 2-bed council house for 2.5 years. Since moving in the electric bill has gone from £35pm to £50pm, and today they want to increase it to £90pm! I think this is ridiculous, but am I out of touch with reality?

We have electric heaters, these are only on at night, and apparently we make a payment on top of our rent which pays for this - £27pm. There is generally one person in the house all day, using lights (energy saving bulbs!), computer and TV. At night there are 2 of us with 2 computers and TV. We also have an aquarium which runs all the time.

Are we being overcharged, or does this sound about right?

Are you paying by direct debit ?

If so you may not have been paying enough to cover your usage.

You need to get your bills/readings and calculate how much you are using.
