Time off for appointments?
My employer has refused my request for a half day holiday, or to make up the hours elsewhere in the week, for a dental appointment because the time does not suit the business. I would need to leave work 2 hours early. I understand that an employer is not required by law to allow employees time off for visits, and that they…

Agency worker- Not accepting Limited status AT ALL
I'm "temping" via a recruitment agency. I want to go Limited or work via an Umbrella organisation, but my agency won't let me. By gaining Limited status I get a higher pay and get taxed less. Nearly every agency allows this to happen, but mine simply won't budge. They say this is because they like to do their own payroll…

Extras TV agency scams
There has been a large increase in these up front fee scams where casting / TV extra agencies advertise on local radio including BBC and set up registration days. Lawyers
When approaching no win no fee types, or in fact lawyers in general, I have been told that they are not really interested in whether your case is strong in law or not, only whether or not they can get some compensation for you after a couple of stern letters. Fact or fiction? I say this as I have an issue and I don't want…

How do you manage to survive on your jobseekers money?
I don;t understand how people manage to survive on only 67.50 particularly when they live in expensive places like London. How do YOU do it? I live in the North East and although I don't pay rent per se I do give my parents most of my money for expenses and shopping etc. I always run out of money after about 10 days even…

Working part time mid-week days and bank holiday entitlements
Hello can someone help me re. the above. If I work part time on mid week days do I get re-compensed somehow for missing out on bank holidays or is it just tough luck? If I worked Mondays and Fridays I'd get more time off and paid for it than if I work mid-week. What is the law on this? Thank you.
