Credit check for job

Hi
Anyone got any advice?
Recently made redundant and been offered a new job but they will conduct a credit check.
I have been refused loan within last year, I think based on the amount of debt I have.
All debt paid every month and only black mark I can think of is missed credit card in Dec but paid Dec and Jan in Jan.
I appreciate difficult to say but will I pass a job credit check or will it be same principle as when applied for loan?
Anyone got any experience of a job credit check?

Never heard of a company doing a credit check before. Is it a finance based role?0

It has been common in Financial Services for a long time and is getting more common outside of it too.
Generally speaking they are looking for more specific things than a "score" or a single missed payment (ie CCJs etc). Simply having a fair amount of credit shouldnt be any problem as long as you demonstrate you are managing it (ie meeting your obligations)
If you are looking for a job in bank or equiv then they tend to be tighter still because they think it is hypocritical for an employee to be telling someone that they are a bad risk when they themselves are also a bad risk (though some would argue the banks themselves are possibly a bad risk these days). Plus there is the fraud concern that if your in out of control debt that you may do something silly and the scope for that silliness tends to be much greater as a bank cashier than as a supermarket cashier.0 -
Unfortunately it is a bank.
No defaults or CCJ's. Just at limit with credit card and few loans.
Fingers crossed it isnt the score they are after.
Thanks for replies.0 -

I had to go through a security clearance questionaire for one recently (it was a Govt. Dept.). It was very very detailed. For instance I had to declare my addresses covering the last 5 years, whether I had ever been refused credit, had any CCJs and all sorts of other stuff. I think it was more of a declaration rather than a pass or fail based on the info given though.0
