How to prove no longer required by employer.
My boss employed another part timer @ lower hourly rate than me. Since then I have found I'm being left out of the loop and not being given info where needed. If I left the part timer would get a day or 2 extra and still not cost as much as me. All this isn't legal but I can't prove owt. I'm trying to get something else…

Injury at work compo recommendations reqd
I've been temping recently, doing some manual work, and whilst there I cut my leg with a bit of machinery, which nobody seemed bothered about and resulted in me going to hospital too late for stitches to prevent a scar, and I also sustained a sprained muscle in my upper back which has caused me to have to turn down further…

Also - Data Protection Act
As you may have seen on my other thread I came across a report written by my manager about my sickness absences and 'general conduct' over the last 6 months. From reading it I think it was either sent to her boss or to HR. My question is under the DPA, would I have been entitled to see a copy of this report anyway? I want…

Help re disciplinary on sickness absence
Hi Guys, I am hoping that someone knows a bit more about employment law than I do! I have had a lot of time off work this year, firstly due to breaking my ankle (was off for 3.5 months), then I got an abdominal infection that caused me to have 3 weeks off (1.5 weeks in hospital). I am currently pregnant as well. (Got…

Just finished uni and not sure what I want...
As the title says, I've just finished uni, graduate in September, but still I don't know what kind of career I want. My degree was in music technology, but the majority of that was recording studio work which a) bored me and b) I wasn't very good at, so that's that out of the question. At the moment I have a "part time…

Leaving without giving notice
I've just had an interview, and the guy made it very clear he wants someone ASAP. Would it backfire on me if I were to walk out of my current job? Just clear my desk one evening and leave a Post It note on my boss's desk? Alternatively, is it true that if, for instance, you have 15 days holiday to take, you could leave in…

Hiya I was off for about three weeks last year with work-related stress. My employers bein as cr*p as they are, never told HR so it was never put on my record. Thing is, I'm applying for other jobs and its asks for your absence record - apart from this one period, my record is excellent. So.....if they don't have record of…

A friend gave in her notice at work just over a week ago - she had to give 4 weeks notice. She was then off sick last week and on returning to work yesterday was told that she had to take the 2 weeks holiday she had accrued so far this year over the next 2 weeks from next Monday - in effect not returning to her work after…

I have just been to a job interview at a very well known financial services company. One of the questions they asked me was if I "have any kids on the way" (their wording not mine) Then they went on to ask if I planned to have any.I was under the impression that they weren't allowed to ask this, if anyone knows the official…

Contract Change - redundancy questions
Hi all, Our company has been taken over by another company. We can choose to sign over to the new contract which reduces our working ours from 37.5 to 35 (but on the same pay, so hourly rate goes up) and we get free BUPA single person healthcare which covers all conditions pre-existing as well. However, redundancy is…
