Contract Change - redundancy questions

Hi all,

Our company has been taken over by another company. We can choose to sign over to the new contract which reduces our working ours from 37.5 to 35 (but on the same pay, so hourly rate goes up) and we get free BUPA single person healthcare which covers all conditions pre-existing as well.

However, redundancy is statutory, i.e. about £310 for every week worked.

Our existing contract pays 1.5 weeks for every week worked which is considerably more if we get made redundant.

I am in two minds about moving over to the new contract. On the one hand, in the past, when we've been taken over, we've been moved onto new contract terms anyway I think. On the other hand, if I don't move and we get taken over again, if they want us to do 37.5 hours, people would get paid even more to get their hours bumped back up to 37.5. Furthermore, the free healthcare sounds great.

Been with the company almost 10 years. Don't know what to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, if we get taken over again, what can I do to stop my redundancy terms from changing?

Thanx
