Very/Shop Direct
Hello, I'm hoping there are some MSE'ers with experience of this company. I have had an account with Very for about two-three years, initially used to purchase Christmas presents (I know, I know, not proud) and used sporadically afterwards. With interest etc and a couple of missed payment charges, the account now stands at…

Both myself and my flatmate are registered on the electoral role. He has lived there 6 years and myself about 5 years. Yet I am getting threatening letters for a Mr Skinner who does not live or has ever lived here! Last week I got a letter saying bailiffs had come round. I sent a letter to the court saying no person of…

Being chased for tuition fee debt from 2002
I've not spoken to the university since I dropped out but I'm being told I owe tuition fees for a year I didn't attend from over ten years ago. Now it's pure chance I even got this letter as I don't live at that address anymore. I was under the impression that they had six years to claim this debt back?

Annual money health check
I supposed to be doing other things, but I have got side tracked, and I am now doing the well over due annual money health check.. Even though you get things all sorted, things do change, so a review of EVERY bit of money that comes in an out of the house needs a check. With the cost of living going up and up, I think I…

Lloyds Debt & PPI refund
Hi I will try to keep this short! I recently received a refund of PPI from Lloyds TSB. Was very surprised as I am in a DMP with Stepchange and owe them £1900 on a current account overdraft & £1200 on CC. I spoke to their representative and they said I could settle the overdraft for the value of the refund, £1255. I was…

Sat/Sun 11th/12th May - What small DFW things will you do today?
What small DFW things will you do today? When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :D But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are…

Student struggling with credit cards and pay-day loans
Hi all, I am new on here and finally facing up to the debt that I owe after months of burrying my head in the sand. In September 2011 I moved out of my parents home for the first time completely unprepared for adult financial responsibilities. Rent was the only thing that I had to pay and my student loan covered that. (I…

Redundancy money on DMP
Hello, I'm on a DMP and have just heard that I'm being made redundant soon. Will it be expected that any monies I receive will have to go towards the DMP? Am I allowed to use any of it to retrain or to pay towards College or some courses, or can I even keep some to be able to continue to pay my monthly bills and DMP…

Natwest has refused F&F settlement
I made an offer to Natwest of a f&f settlement on both my overdraft & loan account telling them that I will shortly be leaving the country (maybe they think I'm calling their bluff?) & that a friend in Germany was willing to pay part of my debt as "f&f". They've just written back flatly refusing the offer, no counter-offer…

Debt from 2005 definitely statute barred?
evening! Quick question: if a company hasn't contacted someone about an outstanding debt since 2005 is it definitely statute barred? OH had a letter this morning about his and exes joint account from 1996 which was closed when they divorced in 2004. He was contacted by a collection agency about 6 months later saying there…

Debt collector and credit report
Hi there, please be gentle with me :) I posted a wee while ago about Westcot contacting me for £1700. I wasn't aware of anything that could have caused it, but when I called them, I found out it was from my NatWest overdraft. I was surprised because I'd had no communication from NatWest at all and my account was still in…
