hi
in 2007 i took out a hire purchase with wf, after 3 year i lost my job and ended up defaulting on this. however, i had paid more than half of the balance, i told them i wanted to hand the car back and they told me i would have nothing else to pay.
so a few month later they started chansing me for the £4400 that they say i still owed (i had paid more than half so could hand it back with nothing else to pay) so i told them i was not paying as i had already paid over £5000, anyhow i wrote to the financial ombudsman about this, and it is still ongoing with them.
But, i checked my credit report today and the balance from this account has changed from £4400 down to £100!!!
why would they change the balance by £4300? can they put this balance back on at a later stage? or will this because of me getting the financial ombudsman involved?
any info grately appreciated, thank you

hi,
anyone have any idea on this? thanks0 -
Wonder if they have written the debt off, but left a £100 showing to trash your CRA?0

If it was HP, and you did a voluntary termination, and had already paid half the total due under the agreement, then you would owe nothing.
My guess is that they have accepted this, but are still trying to claim some sort of admin fee.
Don't pay anything until you know what it is.0 -

DON'T Call them.....Always Write because then you have a paper trail...if you Call them then they can deny what you or they might have said on a Call....0 -
