Hi, been 'lurking' around for some time but never posted before. I could use some advice if possible?? I am paying off a Barclaycard debt and I decided to check my credit report in the last month as we were turned down for a new current account which I thought really odd. Arrears Notices
Regarding the arrears notices that a creditor is supposed to send you every 6 months. What happens if those notices are inaccurate. Does the same apply to them as a default notice in that they become invalid? Thanks

Fed up, plodding on, is this the best way?
OK, I need some advice about what people think is the best option, is it better to stay plodding on paying unsecured debts off at rates of 17.9% with just over minimum payments for years or to let it slip into a DMP and pay back with the interest frozen but with then a bad credit rating? I seem to be stuck between the…

Please help distressed-middle-aged-lady with old (unknown) business debt….
I seem to get myself into some scrapes! I hope someone can offer some advice because I’m really stuck and struggling not to cry right now. I started a small online business with a mate 5 years ago (we were 50/50 partners) – it never took off and closed after a year or 2. It left me in a lot of debt (which I’ve nearly…

*wave*
Hi all, I've been lurking round these forums for a bit, and taking some advice and getting all excited that I'm "sorting things" then fall off the wagon. I'm not *massively* in debt, but I'd rather not be in debt at all if you see what I mean. I have a low income, but I'm back living with parents after travelling, have no…

1 Year Book No Spend Challenge... Any Takers?
Everyone has weaknesses, one of my biggest is books! I love the way they feel in your hand, the way they smell, the way they take you to other worlds/ to different situations. I might go so far as to say i'd choose a book over chocolate every time!!! So I'm on a mission, from the 1st of May 2011 to the 1st of May…

What on earth is going on ... ?
I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. I have about £4000 of debt on a credit card and an overdraft. I'm working my way out of it and I have never missed a payment on the credit card or gone out of my overdraft. On 3 April I went to find out my credit score from Experian. It was in the high "good" category. One of the…

DLA and debt recovery companies
We have been given conflicting advice DebtLine say as DLA is NOT a benefit but an award and is not means tested - we do not have to include it for calculations when being asked for your "income" on an income and expenditure form. CAB say the opposite Which is correct?

Sat 30th April/Sun 1st May - What small DFW things will you be doing this weekend?!
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…
