When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hiya,

Hope no one minds me starting the thread today & I've done it correctly! I've only done it once before, never usually up early enough but I just can't sleep since 6.30am  & I didn't go to bed until about 2.30am...

Anyway, today I plan to:-

  • [STRIKE]Heating off[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Food from stores[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Charge phone via pc[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Log calories on free app[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Log any expenditure on free app- hoping for a LSD today but will see what happens[/STRIKE] - Ended up having NSD as my OH paid for everything :D
  • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Enter comps[/STRIKE]
  • Dinner from meal plan - Oopsie...I was treated to a Chinese!
  • [STRIKE]Take bun to vets & hope it's included in the cost we've already paid...If not, adjust budget for this month[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check emails & online banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Get OH to go into town & close the account where he has paid off his overdraft now, this is going to be very difficult if last time is anything to go by, awful, awful bank![/STRIKE] - That was actually far easier then I thought it would be!
  • [STRIKE]List OH's car on ebay & hopefully autotrader, need to get moving with that[/STRIKE] - On ebay & FB marketplace for now
  • [STRIKE]Check out VSP challenge[/STRIKE] - Asked to join
Have a great, moneysaving day everyone x

  • Morning everyone. Not my usual list this weekend as I'm being pampered by DNMS and just chilling out.

Today we will be going into town and I'll be heading for my favourite fabric shop. Luckily I can now put these purchases through the business account and offset them against my tax bill. :D

Looking forward to the cathedral and abbey trip and, of course, the sauna which will be a first for me!

    Have a great weekend

Morning all, been missing this thread for a few weeks so hope everyone's well/happy.

Not been online as much as finished this part of my Uni course:j:j and have a break until at least Sept (however, need to find approx £3k to do the next bit:( so may have to take a longer break to raise the necessary funds).

Tummy's been "playing up" quite badly for some reason I've been unable to figure out:( usually have probs during the winter (put it down to eating loads of veg soups) and have cut them this year and was OK but it's decided to let me know that it's still there and I'm not always able to control it.

Had loads of birthdays in April & have just had a huge cc bill so must get back into thrifty ways.

    Already done:
    • Checked banking
    • Moved money into various pots for budgetting
    • Updated expenses spreadsheet

    To do:
    • Inventory of freezer
    • Meal plan for month (should only need fresh fruit/veg/lunches/milk etc)
    • Washing - lovely day so will dry outside
    • Find somewhere new to go next week that's low cost (on hols)
    • Take dog somewhere nice for a walk
    • Water veg (peas, lettuce, spinnach & raddishes in)
    • Prepare veg planter for runner beans which have just sprouted in their seedling pots
    • Sort some stuff to list on e*bay
    • Bath dog at some point (new medicated shampoo which is working wonders on his skin but have to leave it on for 10 mins which he hates - rolls around in the garden and ends up really muddy)!
    • Pay cc bill:(

Pernicious - hope you get on OK at the vets
    WelshWoofer
    - beautiful here but also got the cold wind
Stitchy & DNMS - have a great day & enjoy yourselves!

Has anyone had an MRI scan? I've to go on Weds but am absolutely DREADING it as I'm really claustrophobic.

    See you later!:D

Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • Having a chilled out one as my wife is at the hairdressers:

    • Coffee and breakfast from home
    • Listing some items on eBay
    • Checking mystery shops - nothing new available :(
    • Clear up garden
    • Head over to BBQ at friend's house later

Hi folks , we are on a rapid descent on our rollercoaster life at the moment. Difficult times ahead but mum is heading over monday to look after DD for a few days as I have to work regardless. :(

Still trying not to put too much on the cards but have done some comfort shopping and not enough saving this month. I have a lot of big spends coming up - DD is 18 soon and want to get her something special , Central heating boiler is 25 year old and could go anytime and the Oven is 21 and no longer cooks properly - it is imperial and can't simply slot a new one in.

Plan is to raise as much as I can over the next few months towards the oven refit whilst we are happy with salads etc. DDs present will come from a cheque I am expecting then work like hell to raise 2.5k for the heating.

    Today I have :
    • checked banks - no suprises.
    • HC x 1 on line
    • posted 3 ebay parcels
    • re listed 2 items
    • entered some comps
    • started my new monthly journal reflecting on the month
    • recieved confirmation of a free study day in june
    • recieved £10 M+S voucher from surveys
    • all food will be from stores
    • collected duvet from laundrette so not a non spend day
    • got bus home with duvet as too heavy to walk - conductor wasn't taking fares so saved £1 :)
I will also try to :
    • organise mums sleeping quarters  DD did this
    • clean the bathroom  Passable
    • list a few more items on ebay 2 on ebay 1 on ebid - have a bid already on one so thata a good start
    • do some surveys only qualified for 1
    • potter in the garden twas a quick potter but something
    • prepare for working sunday and monday at enhanced rates and realised I am a late shift tommorow so sat with a drop of vino
    • Try not to dwell :obeen given a glimmer of hope
