2 debt collection agencies chasing the same debt

Options
I recently received a letter from Wescot in regards to an unpaid loan for Lloyds bank. I wrote back to them
offering to pay monthly payments which they accepted and I have been paying for 2 months.

Then I get a letter from Robinson Way Limited who are supposedly working on behalf of Lloyds bank asking for payment! The original debt is for 4000, but Robinson Way letter is asking for 1400! I'm confused. I wrote to Robindon way to tell them I was already paying the money off to another DCA, but they have simply ignored my letter and sent another demand.
Would Lloyds Bank have sold the debt on to 2 agencies? Is that even possible? I'm totally confused and don't know who to pay

any suggestions??

No its not right and is against the rules.
Do you have the agreement in writing?, if not try and get something.
Im in an agreement with Moorcroft and have been getting letters from Westcott also for a Lloyds debt.

My advice, continue with the agreement and ignore the second. Dont contact them as its just fuel on the fire.

Yeah that's what's I thought. It's just that Robinson are only asking for less than half of wescot. It's 4000 but robinson only chasing for 1400. I was planning on ignoring Robinson but if I could pay less than 4000 that would be a bonus

Strange just noticed that bit. Is it definitely the same debt?, not an overdraft or something.

It may be someone elses debt, I've no clue. But it's adressed to me and it's on behalf of lloyds bank that's all I know. I did write asking for more details, but they've ignored the letter it seems. Maybe I'll write to them again

My debt was with T-Mob and over a year ago I agreed a repayment plan with DLC. I then paid this on time every month until last Dec I paid £5 less (mistake thats all) Letter arrived from another DCA who asked for the £5 and threatening death, thunder and earthquakes. I said to them ''who the #### are you lot ??
It transpires that the 2nd DCA had control of the debt way before I agreed with DLC !!! All my payments to DLC had been passed on to the 2nd DCA. I had no idea. I went into orbit (nice when rule breaking is so obvious)
I threatened them with death, thunder and earthquakes and the 2nd DCA sent the file back to T-Mob. After much screaming etc I got the amount halved. :T:T

If it is the same debt with 2 DCAs in your case - keep paying as before but 'kick off'
  • Why not just contact Lloyds? Seems the logical thing to do.
