Student Loan - never debt free?
Hi, I was just wondering how people with student loans feel about them. Basically I've had mine nearly 10 years (the "new" style they introduced 10 years ago) and because I've always earned a low wage Ive only paid off about £400 (I'm currently just under the threshold and not paying anything). My total loan is around…

Council Tax payments
Humph! Just a word of warning. Ive previously spread my C.Tax over 12 months rather than 10 which has made my monthly outgoings a little easier. I've just rung up to sort it for this month (paid full last month) and they've told me they won't allow that any more - council policy here. Apparently its not "fair". Just…

Wescot response to letter
After about 6 years of leaving me in peace to make my payments, with the occasional voluntary increase as and when I could afford it, Wescot recently started hounding me with daily phone calls - I say me, but it was actually my elderly mother who was on the receiving end of them, since she is at home while I'm at work. No…

Hello: another newbie here! Need support
It's true to say that I've never really been great with money. Too many cards and catalogues, can't resist a bargain, useless filing system, always seem to forget to pay stuff off on time, live with constant overdraft, no savings, never earned much money (max earnings were £20,000 a year when working full time). And I have…

What does this letter mean?
Last week I wrote to a DCA offering token payments, as I'm disabled and on income support. Today I've got a letter saying: We can confirm that we are taking no further action in this matter, and that our files are now closed. Now, does this mean that they've given up and that's it, or have they sold it on to another DCA…

dirty tricks by Halifax?
dirty tricks by Halifax? or maybe I am wrong. I have written to the Halifax demanding pay-back of all default charges couple days ago, after they've threatened to close my account and pursue me for “money that I owe them” although hat money is a result of their unfair charges. Today, I have been surprised to receive a…
