Lowering Credit Rating - Overdraft
Hi - I am using this year to attack my debt and improve my credit rating, ready to get a mortgage in a couple of years. The first thing I am working towards is clearing my overdraft (Was £2000). I lowered my limit to £1500 this month, and this has actually made my credit limit worse. What am I doing wrong? Thanks all!

Is it better to pay off more to increase credit?
Hi. When paying off the monthly balance of a credit card (purely to build up a credit score) does it matter who much is paid off? So basically does it matter if I spend £50 or £100 In a month if the card is paid off each month?

Credit File - AR - Options
I posted this on a thread on the Debt-Free Wannabe forum, but interested to get some opinions on here. Quick backstory - in 2011 my wife and I entered a DMP. That ran until 2016 when we set up direct payments to our 2 creditors Idem (5 accounts) and PRA (2 accounts). Direct payments actually worked better than the DMP and…

Closed current account that wasn't mine?
Have opened up a noddle account, to have a look at my credit file. To my shame it's the first time in about 5 years I've done this. I noticed a current account with Barclays. I've never had an account with them. It was closed in 2015 and is marked as settled with a balance of zero. It also shows that it was opened in 1997,…

Credit Cards and rating for mortgages
We are just about to get a new mortgage deal on our current house. We have had credit cards but are about to pay them off before we seek a new mortgage deal. Is it best to pay the credit cards off and either a) leave the open or b) close the credit card accounts. Which will have a better effect on our mortgage applications?

Hi, Newbie to this group so please be kind.... Looking at Canada as an example. If my credit report is a bit iffy,…

Are unrecognised soft searches something to be anxious about?
I've just checked Noddle, and there are several searches showing from 24 January, categorised variously as ID checks, quotation searches and general insurance. I've got similar soft searches showing up on my Experian report, for the same date, although nothing on Clearscore. The searches look like the sort of thing that…
