HI.
I am now 46 years old after splitting from my father when i was 2 years old my mother decided to call me by my middle name, this is a name ive used throughout all my school and adult life, however this is now starting to cause me issues. When recently taking out a new pension the company insisted on using the name off my birth certificate which is obviously different from the name ive used virtually my entire life. Its got me thinking is this going to cause me problems in other areas ie life insurance, mortgage, bank accounts which are all in the name ive been using not the name on my birth certificate ? I tried a credit search with my birth name and it returned no results whereas a search with the name ive used all my life bar 2 years has a top rating of 999.i was considering changing everything to my birth name but it looks like this will bring its own problems ??? TIA:( any help would be greatly appreciated.TIA

It would make more sense to continue using the name you've used for the last 44 years.0 -
Change your name officially to the name you’ve been using. The pension company cannot then refuse to use that name.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

this would involve changing all my official documentation passport driving license and at doctors and the like how easy is this to do ?0

Is your middle name not on your birth certificate too? I am known as Ellen but my full name is Mary Ellen (names changed to protect the guilty). I just use Mary Ellen on anything official or financial, Ellen for anything informal. At the doctor’s and dentist there’s a note on my file - “known as Ellen”.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. It's extremely easy if you're a British Citizen and the only thing you need to pay for is a new passport. Fill out any one of the numerous free deed poll templates, get two witnesses to sign it, and send it off to the DVLA, HMPO, etc. Easy as cake.0
