First credit card

Hiya,
I'm an 18 year old still in free education living at home, that wants to build up a credit score to get a mortgage. I work 8 hours a week as well so earn around £2000 a year and have a direct debit set up to save every month. But I can't find any credit companies that will accept me at the moment, is there any way round this?
Thank you for any help,
Alex

Get yourself on the electoral register if you are not already, that is a good place to start.
A phone contract and current account also get reported on your credit file so they will help you build up a bit of history if you are unable to get a credit card at the moment.
You could also check your credit files for free, just to be sure there are no errors which may of affected your applications.
Be sure to use eligibility checkers before applying so you don't rack up multiple hard searches on your credit history.0 -
As an 18yrs old you will have little or no credit history.
Try the eligibility checker for 'credit builder' cards

If you have a bank account and keep it in good order, try approaching your bank.0 -
At 2k a year salary you are unlikely to get a card. Even with no outgoings. If you are accepted you are looking at best a limit of £300ish. Your best bet for now is a phone contract (get a sim only deal).2.88 kWp System, SE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 240W Conergy Panels, Samil Solar River Inverter, Havant, Hampshire.
