If you have savings with a bank are you more likely to get higher limits on cards or is it physically the amount of income you have?

How do lenders calculate affordability with existing CC debt?
Just now I have around 11k on cards....if I pay the minimum each month the total is ~£230, but that could change when deals run out or if I did a balance transfer. So how would they (lenders) get a total? Can they see the amounts you pay in your credit history? Do they know if you’re on a deal ...0% etc? Thanks

Credit Club Eligibility Calculator: Failed! Help! and Car Hire
Hi, I'm traveling to France in May and discovered that to book a hire car for a couple of weeks I most likely need a credit card! I have never had a credit card in my life and I am in my 30's! I am in receipt of benefits. The Credit Club Eligibility checker told me I have a 95% chance of being accepted for Barclaycards.…

Premium Credit direct debit
Hi. Not sure if this is the right thread but its credit related. Premium credit issued me a default notice some time ago for cancelling a direct debit to them. The reason it was cancelled is I switched bank accounts. I set it up with the new one straight away but they issued the DN for breach of contract (cancelling the…

Amex welcome offers not available if you have held any Amex card within last 24 months
I was just looking at the T&C's for Amex cards as I've been thinking about applying for the Gold Rewards card. I currently hold the Platinum Cashback card and have been very satisfied with it. I noticed the following text in the terms of the 20,000 points welcome offer: All introductory offers are subject to change, can be…

Credit Card Overpayment
This may be a silly question but i’ve looked everywhere and can’t find an answer. I used my credit card a few months ago on an eBay transaction and recently paid off the card (the account remains open). The eBay transaction was cancelled and the refund issued to the card. Now i can see the card has a positive balance. My…

Second card holder - poor credit
Hi all 👍🏻 My husband wants to add me as a second card holder on a credit card, however I have poor credit, with defaults and CCJ’s. We hold no joint accounts of any kind due to this. My questions are: - is being a second card holder the same as being a joint account holder and therefore creating an official financial…

Refund to a closed credit card
Hi, I made a payment for a council service online about 8-9 months ago. The council is now refunding that payment as I applied for the wrong service. I don't remember what card I used, their email receipt doesn't show any card details and the council said they can't provide that either. I cleared off and closed quite a few…

No DCC on prepaid Mastercards
I see that Mastercard is stopping the offering of DCC to holders of their prepaid cards, which is a good thing but only a small step. The official reason for doing this is: "Mastercard says it's made the new rule because customers who opt to pay with a prepaid travel card have already effectively chosen to convert their…

Paid wrong card.
This is probably covered somewhere else but hopefully it's an easy answer. I've just accidentally paid £300 odd to a credit card which only had £60 due, will it show up as £240 credit or will they refuse it (I immediately cleared the balance on the card that was due £300)? I'm actually not overly bothered either way but…

Halifax Credit Cards: Redistributing Credit Limits
Before I try this, out of curiosity, has anyone redistributed credit limits among Halifax credit cards? If so, did it work ok? Did it cause any problems? According to the Halifax site, it can be done via Telephone Banking, but I can't get the IVR speech recognition system to understand the word "redistribute" - it thinks…

A question re: credit cards
Hi All, I'd like to ask for some advice regarding what I should do: I have two credit cards. One is a Halifax card that I only tend to use when I travel. The second one is an HSBC credit card which I'm keen to stop using because of its high APR. I'm thinking about applying for a new card just for balance transfer purposes…

S75 When is a gift not a gift and why does it matter?
Wondered whether to try and pull opinions on gifts together in a thread. For the purpose of the thread I will be ignoring Chargeback rights and assuming all purchases are over £100, under £30K and made on a credit card by the main cardholder. If I buy something for someone else and it is sent directly to them, is that a…

Credit Card Interest on section 75
Hi. I made a section 75 claim on my credit card back in January for a £640 item that never got delivered in December. The credit card company sent the forms to fill out & asked for email print outs of me contacting the seller. Did all that & waited as I was told it would take 30 days. Got to mid March & way over 30 days &…
