A question re: credit cards

Hi All,

I'd like to ask for some advice regarding what I should do:

I have two credit cards. One is a Halifax card that I only tend to use when I travel. The second one is an HSBC credit card which I'm keen to stop using because of its high APR.

I'm thinking about applying for a new card just for balance transfer purposes to pay off the two cards above. If accepted, is that possible, i.e. to transfer the balance from two cards on to one that's interest free?

Secondly, I'd like to apply for another credit card for everyday purchases as I've been one of those silly people for the longest time who keeps using their debit card for everything which neither helps my credit score nor protects me when making purchases. Having looked at this site, I think my best bet is either the Virgin Money card or the Barclays one.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance as I appreciate any helpful comments and/or advice.

As long as you transfer within the promotional window, yes.

For daily usage, use the card that gives you the benefits you value the most.

If you like cashback as a benefit then consider Tandem CC (0.5% - even abroad). Amex gives you more but not accepted everywhere.

Just bear in mind that the card you want to transfer to has to be from a different banking group to your existing cards. (if you are not already aware)
