0% balance transfer to Barclaycard Platinum
Hi, I saw in this week's MSE mail that Barclaycard Platinum has a good extended 0% term for balance transfers. I currently have a Barclaycard that I haven't ever used (it "changed" into a Barclaycard from another card (Egg I think?) a few years ago. In the meantime, however, I'd got a Co-op Members Credit Card. I'd now…

18% Interest charged for nine months!
Hi all, I transferred my credit card balance onto a MBNA 12 month 0% card, and set up a direct debit. I found out today that MBNA have been charging me 18% since January because of a late payment. Should MBNA have sent me a letter to inform me of the interest percentage change? Thanks Dan

Halifax Clarity Credit Card
Hello everyone, I have some questions regarding the Halifax Clarity Credit Card. I have never had a credit card before so some questions may seem stupid to some of you. 1. If I were to goto Thailand and withdraw as much as I could, lets say £500 from an ATM at 12.9% APR and then pay it off the next day using my bank…

It debited a random amount mentioned in…

Credit Card & Credit Rating
Hi, I have been reading other threads and guides but cannot seem to find a clear answer elsewhere. I wonder if someone can help clarify this. Looking at my Experian Credit File it say: Using a large percentage of your total credit each month, even if you make all your repayments on time may have a negative impact on how…

Beware - dodgy Halifax CC practice - lowering limit without notice.
I wanted to make you all aware of a potentially cavalier practice that Halifax have just pulled on me. I have had the Halifax Clarity card for several months now, paid my statement balance on-time and in full every month, never went over my limit. My credit limit was £1600 and I had about £600 in transactions on the card…

How strict are MBNA with 'late' payments
I'm looking for a bit of moral support right now as I'm kicking myself in the teeth. I closed an MBNA Amazon credit card account in September, paid the balance in full and was told nothing was outstanding on the phone. The direct debit disappeared off my current account, so I didn't think anything more of it. About 30…

Section 75 question
When making a claim under Section 75, do I have to exhaust all options directly with the retailer, or can I go straight to using Martin's Section 75 template letter and make it the credit card company's problem? My initial conversation with the retailer suggested that he won't make it easy for me to get any money back.…

charged interest even though payment made in time!
I paid off (by transferring the balances) two creation credit cards. The transfer showed on the statement as going through on the 17th Sept. Then underneath this a couple of weeks later they charged me about £35 interest on one and another £20 interest on the other. Am I being a bit dopey here? I presumed that if the…
