Is there a Pre Paid cash card that.

I First came accross the prepaid cash cards when o2 brought one out .so I signed up for one to use online. then o2 decided to get rid of their cash cards. So I got a cash plus one. cost me £4.99 to activate it & each transaction 99p but I thought ok thats better than nothing I suppose. the card expired & they Automatically sent out a replacement card .I only noticed today when I logged in to my cash plus account that once again I have been charged £4.99 for the new card. :( are there any cash cards that do not charge every time they send you a new card or am I going to have to pay £4.99 again in 2years when this card expires

Thank you in Advance for any Advice

A bank account that offers a debit card is a cheap (free) option.

    Alternatives:

A one off charge of £5 for the card. If you use it, a replacement card is issued free when it expires. Transactions, but not ATM withdraws are free. Top ups are free.

If you have an O2 account, there's O2 Money which is the replacement for the service you previously used. I think the initial card costs £5. Again, transactions are free, but there a fee for ATM withdraws. Top ups are free.

I think the card is still free. Transactions are free, but, again, there's at charge for ATM withdraws. Top ups are free.

The AA's Spend & Earn is similar, but seems to come with a £9.95 fee for three years now.

  • hmmm looks like its best to stay with cash plus as all these other cards it seems you have to download e-wallet to your mobile .I don't want anything linked to my mobile just a card I can load to use online , I have a bank card but I do not trust using that online hence getting prepaid cash cards .

Dunno why you'd think that. None of them require a download to your mobile phone.

    99p per transaction. Ouch.

I assume your reasoning is that you are scared of your bank account being hacked. If so then, assuming your paranoia doesn't go as far as logging into your own bank's website to manage transactions, why not open another bank account (with a debit card) and just use this second account for online payments, transferring cash into it from your main account just prior to making the online payment. No costs involved.
