0% balance transfer to Barclaycard Platinum

Hi, I saw in this week's MSE mail that Barclaycard Platinum has a good extended 0% term for balance transfers. I currently have a Barclaycard that I haven't ever used (it "changed" into a Barclaycard from another card (Egg I think?) a few years ago. In the meantime, however, I'd got a Co-op Members Credit Card. I'd now like to transfer my balance on my Co-op Card, and this Barclaycard Platinum caught my eye. But how do you think I should go about applying? Should I cancel my current but unused Barclaycard and then apply separately for the B'card Plat - or somehow "use" the fact that I've already got a card with them and ask if I can transfer my Co-op balance to it but at a better rate than the Co-op are giving me (I suppose they wouldn't give me 0% as a Plat card is different). Thanks for any advice :-)

After cancelling you normally have to wait at least 6 months before applying for the same card again.
However, IIRC, reportedly you can have two CCs with BC if one is Visa and another is Mastercard.
Barclaycard Word is Mastercard.
Platinum is Visa.
That said, cancelling the World card first will probably help to get a bigger limit for the Platinum one. Alternatively you can try asking them to transfer part of the limit from the old card to the new one.0 -
Based on the weekly letters BC are currently sending me they are offering BTs onto existing cards, though for shorter periods. Depending on what your needs are then that may be suitable for you or you may be better off cancelling the existing card, waiting until you are a new customer again (normally 6 months) and then applying for the longer BT new customer card0

Thanks very much to both. I don't really need a huge limit but would like to do the BT fairly soon so I'll ask them if they would be willing to transfer it onto my existing card. Really appreciate your replies :-)0
