My Virgin Balance Transfer ended up at 31%APR
I applied for a balance transfer via Virgin (MBNA) about 12 months ago, it was a fairly sizeable transfer about £6000. At the time the APR at the end of the 0% period was something in the region of 16%, I have since been notified that this is going to now be almost doubled to 31%. Is there anything I can do and more…

Credit Card Error Affecting Credit
Hi There I had several credit cards which I was paying fine. I then moved to Spain for work so used a payment plan manager to pay them, ie. I paid the plan manager a sum and they disributed it accordingly, rather than paying each individual card from Spain. When the plan manager requested the outstanding balance from one…

Is Egg Money a credit card?
Is Egg Money a credit card in terms of consumer rights - i.e. purchases on Egg Money are covered under the Consumer Credit Act? I assume that this is the case since it's a Mastercard and you can get credit on it, but just wanted to confirm this as in some respects it's not quite a "normal" credit card.

Is a 0% SBT card the best solution?
I currently have an investment that is returning 10% profit per month and would like to increase my investment but must borrow to do so. I have a low credit rating (unsure exactly what it is although i'm waiting for my Experian report) and am finding it difficult to borrow. This arose from late repayment of my student…

Card companies sharing info - end of tarting?
Apologies if there' another thread on this already, I couldn't see it. I was just shocked by what I readi n Martin's newsletter this morning, that some of the big lenders are now going to share info so that they can see exactly how you are using your cards, so they will be able to spot the serial tarters. Of which I am…

Capital One - "Your payment can't be processed at this time" Arrggh!
I switched to Capital One about six months again (from Morgan Stanley) for my cashback credit card, which I use for all my spending and pay off in full each month. Two things are driving me up the wall, both stemming from the fact I pay online by Switch: 1) On the options for payment amount, it only has minimum payment or…

Credit Rating - Best ways to improve this?
Hi, I have recently tried to get a mortgage with no luck because of my credit rating. I signed up to Experian and paid my fiver to see my score and it was worse than I thought although most of the problems were in 2005 when I lost my job and missed a few payments. I have heard there is a way to clear these off my account?…

Closing credit cards and opening a new one?
Hi we have a few cards open that have a zero balance (and have for a very long time) with high credit limits. We have…

Credit Queries - Please Help
Just had a default removed recently, does anybody know how badly a default actually affects your score points wise, and how much it should rise after removal of the default? Also, because of this removal the score has risen to 927 out of 1000, in good, but not quite excellent. I am shortly going to apply for a mortgage for…

I've just spotted the LTSB Advance 0% 6mths in Martin's email and wondered if anyone knows how long you have to wait to re-apply for this card after closing it? I can't find anything in the T&C's.
