First Direct credit card a/c closure
A couple of months ago I closed all my accounts with FD and moved on to another bank. I'm still receiving statements for this accounts showing nil balances and nothing to pay, as I have destroyed the card. I don't know if I'm correct but it looks like the a/c is still active, what I'm wondering is if I wanted to use this…

Credit card application failing despite personal wealth
Does anyone else find it frustrating that they see people with poor financial control seemingly able to get hold of endless credit cards, yet people like myself who have built up investment wealth can not get credit cards as we are not seen to have a salary income of £"x". I have always paid off my cards in full each month…

In a Bit Of A Pickle
Hi All, Ive got a Halifax 1 and a Barclaycard and both there 0% periods are about to expire. I applied for a Sainsburys 12month 0% for spending card 2 1/2 weeks ago and also for a Virgin card so I can transfer my £2000.00 debt from the Barclaycard onto the Virgin card (ive managed to clear the Halifax 1 in time). for stoozer's: is 2% bt charge that big a deal
I know that a charge for balance transfer's is a touchy subject for stoozer's, but if it's the way credit card companies have to try to stop us, with a max charge of £35 surely we can still make money out of them if we have a big enought credit limit and at least a 6mts 0% period? I understand that if we can find a 0% cc…

HSBC - incomptent Gold Card?
Is anyone else having trouble with HSBC, having obtained one of their 0%-for-9-months Gold Cards, as recommended on here? Firstly, it took about six weeks for the card to arrive (admittedly over Christmas), and the first I knew my application had been accepted was when I received a form asking me for security details -…

How to make the most of the Capital 1 free 18 mth b/t card?
I am expecting arrival of the capital 1 card shortly. I currently use Amex as my main credit card and a Visa card for those who don't accept the former. I pay off both my cards in full each month. I was hoping the Capital 1 card would work for SBT but am yet to establish whether it's possible. How do people suggest i do…

Egg Stoozing
My partner has a £10k limit with Egg. I applied online for a £2K increase and have received the following email response: "We have been trying to contact you regarding your recent request. We’d really like to speak to you to ensure that we find the best possible solution to meet your needs. Please call us on 0845 366 0600…

Egg 6 Months 0% "T & C's Rollover"
Looking back on historic Egg deals, I'm anticipating April applications for the Egg card will mean they are 0% until 1st October, and so I'm planning on delaying my application until next Friday so as to maximise the 0% period. Does anyone see any reason why they wouldn't roll it on a month, or might they revert to 5…

VIRGIN SBT - now has a 2% charge
I have spoken to 2 people at Virgin and they now charge 2% on SBT's. The second person I spoke to s  aid there wasn't a charge but the 'summary box' on the product specifically says there is a charge for credit card cheques. I asked him to double check this and he eventually came back and said 'yes, this a recent…

How do I use my full credit limit?
I have a Barclaycard and initially they gave a limit of £1200. Then (after 3 months) I got it increased to £2500. Now they have increased it again to £3400. The trouble is I can't use up the limit because BT's were only allowed for the first month and I'm not a huge spender. i do have an MBNA card which is soon to expire…

Ulster Bank Credit card
I received an application form for a credit card from Ulster Bank Limited yesterday. It's offering 0% on balance transfers for 9 months and 0% on purchases for 9 months. My present 0% card deal with Barclaycard runs out in July and this letter doesn't mention a time limit for applying. My questions are, has anyone got this…

Tesco CC - BT charge?
My Tesco CC bill arrived today. There is a notice of variation with it. It calls attention to an increase in default charges, now £20 (I think it was £15 before). It also says 'We have made provision, as part of any future special offers, the charging of a transaction fee.' Regards X

Nationwide Credit Card - Foreign Transactions
I have just returned from a holiday in Spain and noticed a change in the way VISA deal with foreign currency purchases. This disadvantages anyone who follows Martin's advice and uses one of his recommended credit cards, such as the one issued by Nationwide. VISA now convert transactions in euros to pounds Sterling prior to…

Cashback on overseas purchases?
I spend a large percentage of each year in France, and have both British and French bank accounts. MBNA new transfer charge
This new charge is no new news to me, I opened a MBNA card account and they failed to tell me until I got the card in my hot little hand and rang to make 2 transfers, they charged me for each one and told me very rudely it was because of people like me trying to get 0% for their cards everywhere and constantly transfering,…
