URGENT !! – CORRECTION!!
I too have received a communication from MBNA dated March 2005.
I have just spoken to them also.
The BT fee has NOT changed..... What has changed is the minimum fee payable, which will increase by £1.00 from £2.00 to £3.00 with effect from 01.05.05.
A maximum fee still remains, which in my case is £50.00.
The actual reading is as follows. "The handling fees payable on balance transfers, cheques and cash transactions, as set out in paragraph 1f of your terms and conditions, will remain at 2 %. The minimum fee payable will be £3."

My letter, received today, states 3%, not 2%.
Minimum of £3 and max of £75.
No chance of a 0% deal (offered 7.9% long term rate instead of 17.9%), so closed the card this afternoon over the phone. They will confirm in writing.
Still, made a few quid by stoozing them the last 2 years. Never used card for anything else, so no loss to let it go.0 -
To confirm, my letter states BT fee of 3% from 1st May 2005
min charge £3
No mention of a max/ capped amount, though the last letter i recieved from MBNA a while ago said £75 max BT fee0 -
Very interesting !
We have 2 MBNA letters for two separate accounts and both of them state “will remain at 2%. The minimum fee payable will be £3.00.”
I called MBNA again a few minutes ago. ………They have assured me that there is still a maximum capping of £50.00 on MY accounts. (She emphasised MY)
I got the impression that the terms may vary from one person to the next and that they appear to be targeting and offering those of us who are deemed “non profitable” less favourable terms and conditions.
P.S - I have a 0.9% APR BT agreement with them up until April 05 and the beginning of July 05Charles J0
