Tesco Bank Credit Card
In July this year, I was looking to purchase a new car. I started the process to buy a new car from Sandicliffe, the car dealer, I believe is nationwide! Anyway, paid the initial deposit of £100 to start the papers. To go straight to subject, after few days I needed to cancel all process to buy the car. I contacted the…

TV licence paid by cheque, no record?
I purchased a new TV licence through TV Licensing and paid in full by cheque. After chasing up why I haven't received my new licence, TV licensing informed me that they do not have a record of a cheque payment being made. My bank statement is showing that the cheque had been cashed a few weeks ago. My question is can I…

TSB Online Banking Woes
Today I tried to transfer money to my son, as I've done many times before using TSB's online banking (not the App). I've had a message to say 'Your payment may have been successful' & 'you may notice your account balance has reduced. Please check laterI to see if it's been successful' - not had that message before.…

TSB reduces branch network by a third and loses 900 jobs
https://www.tsb.co.uk/news-releases/tsb-announces-branch-network-changes-2020/ Unsurprisingly for a press release, it has plenty of spin, but some of it seems positively desperate:

Need to make a larger than £25k payment
Hello All, I need to send a payment of £36k for a vehicle private seller. I am limited to £25k a day with Halifax Online Faster Payments. With COVID-19 I am not sure if anything has changed, is my only option to find a branch near to the seller and get them to transfer in branch? Would it be possible to transfer half the…

Money coming in tomorrow - which bank?
If I have a BACS payment arriving tomorrow, pension or interest from elsewhere, I can see it as a pending transaction (under tomorrow's date) in my app with first direct. Lloyds does not provide this information in my experience, so it seems not all banks provide this. What other banks give this information? Thanks

TSB online banking

I have been using the…

Finding the right account
I am the Lasting Power of Attorney acting on behalf of a elderly parent diagnosed with an impulsive spending disorder and I need to put controls in place. To do this I need to find an account type that I can deposit lets say £5-£10 each day, and limits use only to ATM's and point of sale card readers. Because of the nature…

Retired Santander Wallet App
Hi, Santander have just retired their (very useful) Wallet App. The spend categorisation tool in it was really useful for budgeting, and the only reason I have stuck with 123 despite rate drops etc. The app now says that the standard Santander Banking App has "the same features as your Wallet app". I may be missing it, but…

Debit card
My car insurance was due but the company had my old debit card details, I forgot to cancel but assumed that they couldn't take the money as there was no valid card. I was issued with a new one. Wrong apparently the bank said they would have contacted visa who would have authorised the payment. I have raised a complaint but…

Any free savings tools
My wife and I are in our 40s, we both have good jobs but never have much spare cash at the end of the month and only have £1000 in savings. We are soon to move house and will be paying double the mortgage we have now. I really want to get smarter with my money and wanted to ask if there are any free tools online that are…

Is it worth switching my old unused account
Hi all, I'm considering taking up the switching offer from HSBC. I currently have 2 accounts which can be used for switching: one is Monzo which I used occasionally for travelling, and the other is the NatWest account which only holds 11p for the last 7 years. I'm thinking of switching the NatWest as I want to keep Monzo…

Lost Halifax App - How to pay cheques in online now?
Hi All, Since Covid-19 started I've been doing my elderly Mum's shopping & she's been paying me back with cheques. I always pay these in via the Halifax app, but I can no longer use the app due to my phone being too old. I don't want to travel to a branch & I don't want to draw cash out of her account. Anyone have a…

Cashing foreign cheque from USD
I've received a foreign cheque for a large amount so it makes quite a difference to the amount I get if the exchange rate changes only slightly. I've read some of the posts and it seems if I put this in my bank with NatWest it would take weeks to clear so I would be taking quite a chance so near to the American elections.…

I have just opened a HSBC Advance account for my everyday banking ;) , I have received my debit card so I went to online banking to register and it says quite clearly "To register, you'll need a Telephone Security Number. If you're new to online banking and need to set one up, please call us on 03457 404404." I rang and…
