Business Bank Account for Ex Bankrupt?
Good afternoon, I have started a Ltd Company which requires me to open a Business Bank Account. I applied for a Santander but got turned down as my credit rating was not high enough. I was discharged from bankruptcy in August 2016, so I'm wondering if anyone has any information on which Business Bank Accounts would I be…

BoS, Lloyds
Given the interest rate drops and I tiered rates, I am not sure what to do about my two BoS and my Club Lloyd’s accounts. I could afford to keep them filled to £5000 but only by taking money from my ISA. NB I am over the PSA so I do use my ISAs at the best rate I can ge. Given the future drop in interest rates of the…

Switching Barclays Bank Account to Monzo - can I keep Savings accounts?
Hello, This may be a very stupid question, but Googling isn't throwing up much information. If I was to switch my current account fully from Barclays over to Monzo, could I still keep my Barclays Instant Saver and ISA accounts, or do they need a current account to link to? Has anyone made the switch to fully using Monzo? I…

Paypoint (cash deposit) into bank account
Is anyone aware of any facility that allows the use of Paypoint to pay cash into a UK bank account. In the way billhop allows any bill to be paid by credit card, is there an equivalent for cash via paypoint? Like billhop there would have to be a %fee to cover the costs. I know a handful of prepaid cards and the likes of…

YNAB 4 support gone, any idea what to replace YNAB 4 with?
It looks like YNAB will no longer offer support for YNAB 4 after 31 October 2019... any ideas what I could replace YNAB 4 with? I'm looking for a free solution, not paid. (I know I could switch to YNAB online and get a 10% lifetime discount, but prefer not to pay if I can find a free solution). I'm using YNAB 4 as a…

Smishing report gmail fail
I received a suspicious text message from "Alert" saying my HSBC account has been disabled, along with a (dodgy) url link to restore. I don't have an account with HSBC. I decided to forward the text to the phishing reporting email address at HSBC so they could investigate. Got a failure notification from Gmail saying my…

Switched to RBS Rewards - did not get £175 cashback incentive
I recently switched to the RBS Rewards account, to earn cashback on direct debits etc. The Switch promotion came with an incentive for £175 cashback - £125 paid out earlier, £50 later after 6 months. However, I have just discovered I did not receive this cashback due to some less than obvious date cut off on their T&C's.…

Revolut
Does anyone have any experience of Revolut? They don't seem to be mentioned on MSE. I am attracted by the chance to easily switch between pounds and euros. Starling make an 0.4% charge for this, but Revolut don't appear to - though they do seem to apply a rate that is €0.005 (today 1.120 instead of 1.125).

Joint account bank charges
Hi all, we now live in France where I have a joint account with my partner. Whenever the bank writes to us they write to each of us separately, with the same info at the same address. This is very wasteful but also, if it is to tell us we have missed a DD or something, they charge us 2 x 10 euro. It is only possible to…

pending debit car payment
Hello I made a debit card payment last night which was authorised by my bank. However at the other end the payment failed. So I have a pending transaction. HSBC tell me I have to wait some time before the money reappears in my account. I asked if they could accelerate the process but they tell me they can't. Is there…

BOS October Interest
Has anyone else received around £11 interest on their BOS Classic Advantage for October? I am sure it should be around £6.25. £5000 @ 1.5% is £75 interest per year so roughly around £6.25 interest per month.

Hi all. Im sure this has been asked many times before. However, I moved to HSBC for a switch bonus that was paid in the yesterday. In addition, I opened up another current account (Halifax) in order to create a piggy bank account for food etc (to allow me better control over my money). I have received an email from Halifax…

First Direct service
First Direct has won awards for its customer service but in recent weeks I’ve noticed a significant deterioration. Just like so many other banks you no longer get straight through to an agent. I’ve been put on hold for 6 to10 minutes and have abandoned my call several times. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Bank recommendations for small trade union
Hi all, I'm the treasurer for a small trade union made up of a central administrative "core" and a number of workplace-specific branches. The central union has its own bank accounts with basic multi-signatory access, and each branch maintains its own bank account, across various different banks (whoever was easiest to sign…

Barclays Blue Rewards - worth it?
Hi guys: I am in the process of becoming financially sensible i.e I got rid of my Barclays overdraft earlier in the year after many years of not dealing with it and therefore wasting money in fees for almost a decade (really smart). It is quite refreshing to receive a interest payment of a few pence every now and then…
