Leaving current account after switch bonus has been paid

Hi all.

Im sure this has been asked many times before.

However, I moved to HSBC for a switch bonus that was paid in the yesterday. In addition, I opened up another current account (Halifax) in order to create a piggy bank account for food etc (to allow me better control over my money).

I have received an email from Halifax saying I could get £150 for moving to them. However, I am guessing Id have to move me main account (HSBC with all my DDs, SO and pay in it) over to Halifax.

If that's the case., having only been with HSBC a matter of weeks, could they try and claim their £175 switch bonus back?

No they can't claim it back.

Also, you can switch any account into Halifax it doesn't have to be a 'main' account as the term 'main' is meaningless.

If you want to get the £150 either switch your HSBC account or open another account elsewhere (TSB, LLoyds, Monzo, Starling are quick), wait for the new debit card to arrive as you will need those details, and switch that to Halifax.

    thanks for the reply.

So, I open say a TSB, get the card, and then ring on Halifax and boom!?!?

The Halifax offer closes on the 14th.

    enough time you think?

If you've got any old ca at a previous bank, apply for a new with them and switch the old? No waiting then..
    Or just switch the old.
