Barclays Blue Rewards - worth it?

Hi guys:
I am in the process of becoming financially sensible i.e I got rid of my Barclays overdraft earlier in the year after many years of not dealing with it and therefore wasting money in fees for almost a decade (really smart). It is quite refreshing to receive a interest payment of a few pence every now and then rather than me paying Barclays £7 or whatever each month.
Right, hopefully you can see my reluctance to pay a £4 annual fee (yes it is only £4 but that is the attitude that I used to have several years ago that got me a huge credit card bill etc).
I have a loan with Barclays (two hundred quid left) and my salary is paid in to their account so over £800 pcm that they stipulate.
So, has anybody used Blue Rewards? Have you made more than £4 in a year from it?
I very rarely buy things with my card, I use the account to pay bills but I buy the odd take away and Greggs but not much else.
Thanks
Graham

If you have two direct debits they pay you £7 so you're actually making money. You get more if you have other products with them (although you'd probably get better mileage elsewhere).
Also these days the rewards double (or treble) for a year if you switch an account into your Barclays one.
Pretty no brainer for keeping the account. The rewards seem rather rubbish though (like with most banks to be fair).0 -
Think you mean £4 monthly fee, not annual
You can probably maximise your gains from your bills with a cashback account like the Natwest or Santander 123 Lite. I myself "make" £5.42 a month from Santander after the £1 fee. Then there are some cashback credit cards around that you can lump everyday spending onto but the more mainstream ones cap these at 0.5% per transaction that annually come off your balance. There is an Amex card that pays 5% (see the main site) but it's American Express.0
