HSBC popup saying online services temporary restricted
borderline
I wanted to ask if anyone has ever seen this.
I logged in to my account and I got this pop up saying that online banking services have been temporally been restricted and to book an appointment to update or confirm personal details to have these temporary restrictions removed.
so I called customer services and the lady I spoke to said she didn't know anything about it. Then she spoke to a supervisor and she told me to ignore it.. so I did.. so I don't know I've never seen such a thing before.
I logged out and logged in again and there is no message anymore..

Unless you receive a letter or secure message from HSBC following up on this, then I'd probably ignore it. Alternatively, it could be just trying to make sure you check that your contact details are up to date? I get that from time to time when I log into other bank's online banking.0

I have this before as well with other accounts to check if my details were up to date but never to make an appointment , this is what I found really strange0 -
I had this message pop up when I logged into HSBC yesterday too. I didn't click the link, and rang the bank on the number I have for them (not the number given in the message). It took me ages to get through, and the automated bank message said they were experiencing a higher than normal number of calls. The reason for that was people calling to query the message - the customer adviser told me to ignore the message as it was a phishing one and they were trying to sort it out.
The message appeared after I had logged in, so I hope my data (and everyone else's) was safe.0 -

I called the number on the pop up but it was the same as HSBC premiere customers service, although I'm not a premiere customer .
did they tell you it was a phishing pop up? if so, that's worrying.. I didn't click on the link to book an appointment, I just called straight away .
the customer service lady I spoke to she had no idea what it was, she said she had to ask a supervisor and then she told me to ignore it0 -

How many times do banks & card providers need to tell people NOT to click on links or use numbers in any suspect emails/messages... :eek:Life in the slow lane0 -

Yes but the number was the same as hsbc safeguard premiere customer number0 -
I contacted hsbc via Twitter and they told me the pop up was an error on their end. Everything is fine0
