pending debit car payment

Hello I made a debit card payment last night which was authorised by my bank.
However at the other end the payment failed.
So I have a pending transaction. HSBC tell me I have to wait some
time before the money reappears in my account. I asked
if they could accelerate the process but they tell me they can't.
Is there anyway of getting them to remove the reserve in my account?

If the transaction is "pending" then no money has actually left your account and instead the bank has simply placed a "hold" on the funds, temporarily reducing your available balance until it clears. Unless the merchant claims the pending transaction, then the hold will lapse after a few days. The processes are mostly automated, so it is unlikely the banks will be able to do much to speed things up I'm afraid.

Your bank should be able to reverse or cancel the payment. I did go to my local branch and they sorted the issue. You better go to your bank instead of trying to sort out through your online banking team.
