Joint account bank charges

Hi all, we now live in France where I have a joint account with my partner. Whenever the bank writes to us they write to each of us separately, with the same info at the same address. This is very wasteful but also, if it is to tell us we have missed a DD or something, they charge us 2 x 10 euro. It is only possible to receive statements on line so no option for that. I am not happy feeling like I am being charged twice but also the waste. My bank says this is regulatory and they have to write to us separately. Does anyone know if this is the same in the UK? Thanks

Save 20 euros by not going overdrawn and be done with it?0

Why does it matter if it's the same in the UK?
It's not like you're going to open a UK account now, is it?0 -
Whenever we get mail from the bank we only get one copy addressed to both of us, I can't say whether that would apply to notifications of going overdrawn because we don't do that.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Seems a great way of doing things for joint accounts. Hopefully then it will stop one party of hiding issues from the other.
Why would they charge you twice for a missed DD etc? You only miss one payment...Life in the slow lane0 -
Thanks for helpful comments. Believe me, missing a payment is not something I ever want to do but sometimes these things happen. They charge an admin fee for sending a letter about a missed payment as well as charging a penalty. My point is that it is unfair to charge 2 x admin fees to send the same info to the same address. I have asked them many times to send us one letter addressed to us both but they say they can't as it's regulatory. It's not just that I am annoyed about being double charged, if you think how many JV's there are in France and how many times they send letters like this. Who knows, but it will be a lot. That is a very large amount of money and wasted paper. Knowing what happens in the Uk doesn't really help me argue my case here but I was interested to know.0
