Nationwide Recommend a friend question
Hi I have a joint Santander 123 account with my wife. I have an existing Nationwide account. Can I recommend my wife as a friend thereby gaining £100 each or will Nationwide cotton onto the fact that I`m named in the joint account as I know you can`t recommend yourself. Just trying to see if I can bend that rule a little.…

Cryptocurrency compensation v Standard Bank Accoun
[apologies if I've made any etiquette boo boo's - this is my first ever post] Hello Martin and all forum users, I see in the news today an awful situation where a Cryptocurrency trader was 'forced at gunpoint to make bitcoin transfer'. And I understand this is probably not protected. MY QUESTION IS: What are my protections…

Paying off overdraft
I am utterly, totally and officially skint 😪😳 Last year, my car broke down which ended up costing me £1000 in repairs and eventually I had to buy a new one. Because of this, my overdraft is up to its limit. This is adding to my already sky high anxiety and keeping me awake at night. Should I... 1. Cut down my spending and…

TSB account update time - week-ends
Hello I am expecting one payment due on Monday - we are Sunday: I read somewhere else online that payments at TSB were shown on the account on the Sunday before between 12 and 14.00. This is not the case, but this information dates back a while (and in particular, before the TSB/Lloyd's split). Does anybody have more up to…

Best alternative to Metro Bank?
I've recently opened a Metro Bank account and I love it. The online and mobile banking are hassle free (I only need my phone - I don't need a standard card reader or worse, a bank specific piece of kit) and I was given a debit card on the spot. I am looking for another account elsewhere (as a spare - I'm sticking with…

My partner and I want to open a joint account together, but we are both new to banking. what we are really looking for is somewhere to put money away like a savings account and potentially save for a deposit for a property but still able to withdraw/spend for everyday spending.
