Compensation Culture
I recently had a minor query with NatWest which they decided was best treated as a complaint. They are now pursuing this and offered me £60 compensation and even asked if I wanted to claim travel expenses after being told that I had to go to a branch. At no point did I actually complain nor did I suffer any inconvenience,…

Downgrading Santander 123 current account to 123 lite.
Hi everyone, a quick question - when a 123 account is downgraded to a 123 Lite, do the bank still pay the interest due for the part month up to the change date, or is their some term that says it is forfeit? Thanks in advance.

Which current account for preferrential mortgage rates ?
Hi I am currently with First Direct but Im tempted by the various switch incentives. My mortgage is up for renewal next year so I was wondering if any banks / building societies offer existing current account holders preferrential mortgage rates ? If yes the savings would outweigh any current switch incentive. LTV at…

Money paid into wrong account
A friend of mine put some owed money into my account (as she thought) but the last digit was wrong! This was three weeks ago but I didn't chase her, as she is going through the mill at the moment. Today I messaged her - that was when she checked and realised that it had gone to the wrong account! She paid me immediately…

NatWest & weekend payment changes
I wonder if anyone can shed some light on how NatWest have changed the way payments are now taken over a weekend? I've read on their site that any payments due in or out on a Monday will show on a Monday, & not the Saturday before as previously happened. But I have a standing order that pays out on the 27th of each month.…

Included Insurance with Bank Account who is responsible?

Are Nationwide the body who carry responsibility for any problems because I pay them for this included service or can they simply palm me off to the insurance company saying "I have forwarded your letter to UK Insurance as it's their responsibility to…

First Direct - Internet Banking Plus account aggregation
Regular users of this will know how useful it is - for the uninitiated it allows you to access all your bank accounts from one page (security details are held on your own PC - not elsewhere). There's one big drawback though - it requires Internet Explorer to work. It will not function with any other browser. And it's…

Current account for savings?
After talking to a few people on this forum I’ve learnt that lots of people are opening up current accounts to us as savings accounts... presumably as they pay higher interest than most savings accounts... but how come banks don’t up their interest on savings and lower it on current accounts - in a bid for people to save…

Barclays won’t let me pay cash in without a card anymore.
My brother lives in Wales, I’m in the midlands. He’s unemployed and receives a little benefit due to his arthritis. He just gets by. IF I do a job for a customer and I get a decent tip or I have a good week, I’ll put 100 to one side and when I’m next in town I pay it into his Barclays account quoting his name and sort code…

How many current accounts do you have?
How many current accounts do you have, and why? I.e. one for wages and spending, and a second for household bills (utility direct debits / rent) etc? Maybe a third to put money into exclusively for use abroad on holidays? It would be very interesting to find out peoples methods for managing their finances.

Declined for HSBC bank account switch!
I was after HSBC's switching bonus but it seems they do not want me! In more than 25 years this is only the second time I have been declined for a financial product  Any ideas why that might have happened?? Possible reasons I can think of are:* - we moved house last month so I suppose we're not on the electoral…

Lost insurance money
Hello, My mother died November 2017 and a insurance policy she had was easily sorted and the pay-out organised. This is were the problems have started. A BACS payment was sent from the insurance company to my mothers bank account, which her bank was running knowing it was subject to probate, but the bank seemingly returned…

Halifax and lloyds shares
I've just been sorting through some files and found my old Halifax shares, we had lot of 299 shares which went up to 428 shares in 2008 and in 2009 these were converted to lloyds shares. We also hold 324 shares from a Tessa that we held in 1997 but these haven't been converted to lloyds shares, can anyone tell me why they…

Multiple Switching Bonuses
Hi All, Has anyone ever got more than one switching bonus from the same bank? For example switching to bank A getting £100, moving to bank B the following year and then switching back to bank A and getting a second switching bonus. Just interested if this can be done.
