Nationwide recommend a friend- couple of questions

Options
Hi
Hoping someone who has switched can help me with these questions, and save me the torture of calling customer services.

I want my friend to recommend me for a current account. I already have a basic account that I've never used there. Will it still qualify?
Will all my direct debits/ standing Orders switch?
Payments into the account (wage, child benefit etc) automatically get switched?
How long does the full switch take? Do the card/pin etc come before the full switch happens?

Thank you

Yes to all of your questions. A switch takes 7 days. All the details are here:

Yep, refer to the link. I was surprised too :)

The payment is for switching your main current account to Nationwide from another bank, with the required number of direct debits. Having an existing current account with Nationwide does not disqualify you.

Switch their main current account to a Nationwide FlexAccount, FlexDirect or a FlexPlus account

My understanding of the OPs post was that they have a current account with another bank and a basic account with Nationwide. I did assume that the OP has a current account rather than a basic account with their current bank and will be applying for a current account with Nationwide.

Let me apply a little emphasis on the OP...
I already have a basic account that I've never used there. Will it still qualify?
The answer is "it" (ie the "Basic" account) will not qualify for an incentive by switching into "it"...because "it" is not on the list of qualifying accounts.
  • Hi. Thank you for replying. Sorry for any confusing. I am looking to apply for a new current account, not another basic one. I hold one at another bank but they are no longer in the town where I live and I would like a branch to go in to.

But... The OP asked how long it would take to receive the card a PIN, implying that a new account was to be opened.

We need the OP to clarify.
