Bank of Cyprus UK shambles
Bank of Cyprus are at the top of a few 'best buy' tables recently, so I opened their one year bonus saver and pushed-in some funds. They sent me a password for internet banking through the post. But the password was illegible/ambiguous and I got locked out when trying to use it. The website directs me to a "reset password"…

Best joint Acc to set up with my new partner
Hi, not long moved in with my partner and we've decided it would be best to set up a joint account for the monthly bills. We will not normally be paying in large amounts (I hope) and though there seems to be lots of advice about for moving banks, what about setting up a new joint account? any thoughts or ideas?

First Direct current account switch criteria
I'd like to switch to the First Direct account for the £100 and the linked 5% saver. However I recall I used to have a First Direct (ING Savings) account years and years ago, over 5 years now. The criteria on MSE site says you cannot have held an account previously, does this include savings or will I be OK?

TSB Classic Plus query
Hi, I recently opened up a TSB plus account, and a week or so ago I received the switching bonus, but only after chasing them on the phone. I was just wondering when I can typically expect to receive the payments for having two active direct debits, using the contactless card 20+ times, as well as the interest payments…

Santander 123 account switch
I got an email today from Santander about the 123 account and after ten years of having an everyday current account with Santander I'm thinking I may aswell apply as I fulfil their criteria plus the cashback pays more than the fee and the interest on balances is higher. Question is would I retain my current account…

Tesco Account Funding for 3% Interest
Myself and OH have recently opened 4 Tesco current accounts for the 3% interest on £3k balances. I have done the leg work to transfer 12 direct debits (3 for each account) but as it currently stands, I am cycling the £750 pay in requirement between the Tesco accounts (Account 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and back to 1). Account 1 and…

HSBC debit card incentive
HSBC have made the checking to see if you got the 2% incentive per debit a PITA, so you won't want to hear (see) this if you're choice was to not bother checking.... ...but I have found I didn't get the rebate on a £290 debit. It was eligible but no £5.80 credit within the advertised 5 days (last week). Have brought it up…

Switch bank account without closing old account
Hi, We're looking to open a new account in which all our income will be paid, and regular DD's will be honoured. The new account would ideally be with someone (coop) offering a lump sum to swap accounts; but I understand these require me close my old account. We want to keep our current (Barclays) account open for our…

Barclays Travel Plus Pack
I've been going backwards and forwards with Barclays over a term in their travel plus pack. I use the travel insurance reguarly and like having the UK breakdown cover so the pack works out good VFM for me vs buying them seperately. I'm due to drive in Europe soon and my car is over 11 years old. One of the terms states…

Bank statements from closed account
Long shot but here goes.... I want to apply for a British passport. I need to prove that I have been in this country for as long as I say I have. So I need bank statements with my name and address on them, dating back to 2004. I have been a good money saving girls and I have switched my banks accounts frequently and so I…

Accounts of parents with Dementia
Hello not sure this is the correct board for my question My Dad is showing fast signs of dementia, or certainly some kind of brain degenerating issue. He is forgetful, sometimes confused. With this in mind I'm really worried about his bank account. He also still pays a mortgage - how do we as a family go about taking over…

Missing CHAPS Payment
I sent a CHAPS payment on Thursday from my account with the Yorkshire Building Society as I needed the money in my own business account with Santander that day to make a foreign currency payment. I paid £23.50 for the fast service and was promised the money would be in the Santander account later that day. It's now Tuesday…

Bank Account for Bills
Good Evening Everyone, I am currently renting a house in Central London with 3 others, one of whom is just about to leave. This individual sorted out the financials through a separate bank account dedicated to rent payments and bills. As they are now leaving it may fall to me to organise this for the future. Would it make…

Switching banks for rewards and then switching again
I'm looking to switch banks but I'm torn between those offering money to switch, and those who have good rates and savings account etc. It got me thinking - is there anything stopping me from switching to a bank that'll give me money for switching, staying with them for however long is required, and then switching again?…

HMRC Paid tax rebate into someone else's bank account
I have recently been issued a tax refund which has been paid into he wrong account, the last two digits of the sort code was wrong. I have managed to find out that the money has been paid into a valid account with the same bank, just a different branch. I have contacted my bank and said only HMRC can do anything about it.…

Natwest froze joint bank account held with ex
I broke up with my ex about 2.5 weeks ago (actually, he walked out without notice and has since swung between spiteful and deranged, and has failed to pay up for any of his financial responsibilities, which are £££ as we live in London and rent). We had a joint bank account which was used to pay rent, bills, and shared…

Best bank for security
Just wondering if people have any views on which bank has the best security. Have an irrational fear that my account will be wiped out one day. Seem to remember First Direct being quoted in some article
