First Direct current account switch criteria

I'd like to switch to the First Direct account for the £100 and the linked 5% saver.

However I recall I used to have a First Direct (ING Savings) account years and years ago, over 5 years now. The criteria on MSE site says you cannot have held an account previously, does this include savings or will I be OK?

I seem to remember a Barclays connection with ING, but I don't recall ING ever having a tie up with First Direct?

I don't think ING has ever had any connection to First Direct.

I had an ING account about 10 years ago and they used the brand 'ING Direct' but they were not connected to 'First Direct'

As I understand it, you get the bonus if you can apply via the website, and previous customers can't apply online.

Maybe try applying online and see what happens?

OK thanks for the replies everyone, not sure what I was thinking. I just seem to recall First Direct was somehow associated to ING Direct over 5 years ago, but I may indeed be wrong. I'll try the online application
